How do you tell a fellow player he can't pick a particular feat for his PC?

I forsee much use of the re-training technique found in the mighty tome Pe-aytch-Be by this Wizard, who unfortunately used Wisdom as his dump stat.

How do you tell a fellow player he can't pick a particular feat for his PC?

Really, do we really need to sit around and ask if Acrobatic might be a little substandard for a Wizard? Really? Instead of the wizard having your back with something Combat Casting you'd rather have the party wizard be marginally better at Tumble and Jump? Considering that later on he can learn...

Do reserve feats make the Warlock redundant?

How does this obsolete a Warlock? A high level warlock will have a Greater Chasuble of Fell Power. And he can spice that up to 13d6 Acid with Vitriolic Blast, or take Chilling Tentacles and get 11d6 damage and super-de-dooper Evard's Black Tentacles. Or he could try to throw down Confusion on...

How do you tell a fellow player he can't pick a particular feat for his PC?

Speaking as somebody who doesn't "powergame" but can be counted on to bring a competent character to the table I have to say this sort of behavior really infuriates me. Why does gimping yourself equal "flavor" to some people? Flavor does not have to be tied to mechanics. There are numerous...

    Anyone buying Dreamblade?

From what I've been hearing this is a really good idea but something will keep it from succeeding in a big way. Maybe it will be as successful as Warlord and be kept around until WOTC inevitably sacs it. Maybe.

    Wild Empathy or Bardic Knowledge?

Bardic Knowledge, by quite a large margin. With an average level and average roll you can know a lot of relevant information about just about anything. Wild Empathy is kay for relating to wild animals and your animal companions but that is about it.

    [October] What are you wearing?

Blue jeans, Viking sweatshirt, tennis shoes.

Are you ready for some Football?!? (NFL)

Well, duh. But they just exploded on them in the 4th quarter. If you were a Vikings fan watching the first half you'd have gone ballistic. B.S. penalties, poor play on both sides of the ball, just terrible. Ah well, I fully expected the Vikings to be sub .500 right about now.

Are you ready for some Football?!? (NFL)

How did the Vikings manage to win that game? This is so bizarre to me, the Vikings haven't had a defense in the top 10 since 1998. The passing game needs a real revamp, though. Longer routes in the 10-15 range, get the tight ends involved.

Transatlantic Sports Comparrisons (formerly Explain American football to me)

I like football over soccer because football is highly strategic and regimented. I try to watch a soccer game and it seems like a whole lot of "What's going on?" because it seems harder to understand. Football is a lot of schemes, and variation on themes, and trying to figure out tendencies and...

There is one thing about the Scout that annoys me

I don't know how many high level muckity mucks the OP has in his game world but 18th level Scouts aren't just schlubs in coonskin hats, okay? An 18th level Scout should be one of the baddest mofos in all the land. 18th level is the realm of 100+ damage a power attack and 9th level spells so I...

Why are house rules bad? Why are people proud of having few house rules?

The less tweaking the better. After about two pages worth of "fixes" I think a DM/ref/storyteller/Gamemaster should think real hard if this is the system for them. There seems to be too many egomaniacs houseruling damn near entire systems away nowadays.

    roleplaying people are satanists ;)

Regardless of the tract's numerous Dungeons and Dragons snafus, had Chick ever once talked to the average gamer when he wrote that? I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have said that the groups were predominately comprised of totally bangable women and run by foxy older ladies.

    No Prestige classes allowed

I like prestige classes, mostly because of one group I was in was totally gung ho for them. You weren't jack until you prestiged. Me? I like them because they're mechanically stronger than the bases, as they ought to be, and they help me fill out concepts better.

Is it rude to offer other players unsolicited optimization advice?

It depends on how long they've been playing. But I've been playing for a few years and I still very much appreciate advice from others.

Speaking in "faux old English" [Poll]

No, just look at the way the alignments are treated, the religion of the default world, the technological level of the default world etc. It seems pretty Mesopatamian to me, though the cultural trappings are different. Secondly, I just don't see why everybody would talk like that. Even within a...

Are you ready for some Football?!? (NFL)

As a Vikings fan, I approved the trick play. Longwell and Sharper, playing good as Vikings. Thats a coup baby! DEATH TO THE CHEESEHEADS!

How do you tell someone that they smell?

How do you stop yourself from smelling though? I brush my teeth, shower, wear clean clothes, the 9, but I just always seem to get really ripe say, at sundown. Its so noticable that I've been showering twice a day recently. So if I can tell somebody is making an honest effort I never say...

Total Newbie: Tell Me About Magic: The Gathering

Why no Rav love, ShadowDenizen? Ravnica was my fave set since Odyssey or Invasion. Eh, I don't notice a lot of raw power creep, the oldies still hold up real good. Yeah, some mechanics lead to some strong decks and you really can't ignore them. Hellbent and the like not so much, but...
