The Band of Four (The Village of Oester)

I suppose Tharhack and Gothmog first. They are my favorite characters so far. I would like to see the witch, too, with a full spell list, but you might not want to put her up while she is still in the game. Thanks, btw.

    Fighter Medusa question

A 20th level fighter should be able to afford a cloak of charisma +6.

    Mounted Combat?

I do the same. The rider must choose after the hit and before damage or other attacks are resolved. You certainly would not resolve all attacks and then ask the rider which one he wants to negate.

The Band of Four (The Village of Oester)

Love your story hour, HM, keep up the good work. I was wondering if you might work up a rogues gallery of the characters and NPC's?

    Jumping

I just realized that in 3.5, if you have a strength of less than 12, it's possible to fail to jump over a two foot wide gap. Even with a 20 foot running start. If you roll the dice, yes that is possible. Two foot wide gaps, however, should not really be a problem. Just take 10 on your jump...

    Jumping

What's "normal" mean? It means whatever your speed is when you move. If you are a human fighter, it means 30 feet. If you are a human barbarian in light armor, it means 40 feet. If you are wearing anything magical that increases your speed, it includes that, too. "If you run out of movement...

    D&D 3.x 3.5E Spot Distance

Yes, they are in the Terrain section of chapter 3. So, for example, on page 87, in a forest, the maximum spotting distance is 3d6x10 ft. (less in more dense forests).

    Globe of Invulnerability

In a word, yes. The globe is immoble and does not move with the caster.

    Neutral Summoned Creatures

I think PFE is clearly written regarding the third effect, but the other three are not clearly written, for the sake of saving space I presume. I believe the intent is that they work just like PFE in regard to their opposite alignment, so neutral summoned creatures cannot penetrate any of the...

    2H weapon damage

The general rule is on page 304 of the PH under the heading Rounding Fractions. As Crothian says, you always round down unless otherwise instructed.

Do you roll for your monsters stat?

Actually, the standard array for creatures in the MM is three 10's and three 11's. To get the modifiers, you subtract 11 from any odd ability score and 10 from any even ability score. Humanoid warriors use the nonelite array of 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, and 8. Advanced creatures use the elite array...

    Damn fool question about Quicken

AFAIK, all previous versions of D&D, or at least AD&D and AD&D, Second Edition, had the 1/20 automatic failure and success for saving throws. The authors of the Third Edition core rules books are on record stating that it was an oversight that the rule was not included in the books. The 3.5...

    Otiluke's Resilient Sphere?

If they were immobilized or held, the spell description would say so. I think of it as a hollow sphere of force, but either way is fine as long as the target can move around within the sphere. Sure, the caster is in range. I suppose the target could become gaseous inside the sphere, but he...

    Spell Storing Question

I have a character with a spell storing warhammer. I have always used minimum caster level for it, since the ring works that way. There is nothing in the description of the ability that specifies minimum caster level, though. I doubt it would be too game breaking to allow the spell to...
