Thanks to Insight and the players. It was fun while it lasted. I hope you and your group resolve your grievances soon. Oh, and I am looking forward to your new Story Hour.

    The flames! They burn!

You do not recall correctly. Even in 3.0 this was not an optional rule in the DMG. It was left out of the PH by mistake and corrected in the FAQ. But, as Spider quotes, it is right there in the SRD/3.5 PH.

    Undead and dispel magic

No. ThirdWizard is correct. Undead could never be dispelled in any previous version of D&D either. What gave your player the idea that they could now?

The Heroes Three (Point Five): Keep on the Borderlands - Cancelled

What could possibly cause your group to cancel a session? It's not like their's a major religious holiday going on...err...nevermind. ;)

My C&C campaign is kicking some major butt

The first problem, though, is how to hit the spellcaster when he casts a spell. There are no rules in the PH for readying actions to swing at the spellcaster when he begins casting a spell or for spellcasters provoking an attack of opportunity when they begin to cast a spell. Only a spell that...

C&C house rules -- what are yours?

I was thinking about an elf wizard that cannot take advantage of his elven weapon training because none of the weapons is on the wizard weapon list. So a house rule came to mind. What do you all think about this. Elf Weapon Training: If one or more of the listed weapons is on the elf’s class...

    Flaming Sphere?

From my reading of the spell, I don't think so. It moves by rolling along the ground. It can jump up to 30 feet as part of this movement. The spell description says it can roll over furniture or low walls, so it should not suffer a movement penalty for most terrain. It can also ascend so...

    Cover Question

Yes, T gets a +4 cover bonus to his AC. If AA is significantly larger to where T would have total cover, A cannot target T at all. If A can target T but the cover is deemed almost but not quite total, T could get a +8 cover bonus to AC. That would be a DM call, though. Check out pages...

C&C - How can I use it with DnD?

The cleric makes a Wisdom check against a CC of 12 + the HD of the undead type. The cleric may only attempt to turn undead of one type per try. If successful, the cleric turns a number of undead equal to 1d12 + Cha modifier common undead, 1d6 + Cha modifier extraordinary undead, or 1 + Cha...

    Sahaugin Rangers

If you want Sahuagin rangers to keep the trident, have them use archery for the combat style. With precise shot, they can hang back and shoot into melee with no attack penalty. Maneuver so that their comrades are not providing cover.

C&C house rules -- what are yours?

No, it doesn't. It's a d10 for each combatant with no modifiers. In the case of any ties, the one with the highest dexterity goes first. If the dexterity scores are the same, those actions are simultaneous. The only problem here is that monster types don't have ability scores in their stat...

The Heroes Three (Point Five): Keep on the Borderlands - Cancelled

Very entertaining so far, Insight. I recently became very interested in the new Castles & Crusades system from Troll Lord Games, and I plan to run The Keep using those rules very soon. Should be great fun. How about a rogues gallery for your PCs.

    Anyone Going to Coscon?

Coscon XVII will be March 11-13 at the Butler Days Inn, about an hour north of Pittsburgh, PA. I was just wondering if anyone from EN World will be at the convention. I will be there judging 5 LG games and playing in the LG interactive.

    Large US Game Conventions

Winter Fantasy is the other major convention. It used to be every February in Fort Wayne, Indiana, but the past 2 years were in Secaucus, NJ, and Washington, D.C. I am not sure where the location of the future will be. Check out the WotC website for information on WF earlier this year. Also...

    can't find item (bandolier?)

The bandolier and masterwork bandolier are indeed found in the FRCS book. They don't, however, allow access to items as a free action. The potion belt and masterwork potion belt found in the same book does, however, allow you to retrieve one potion per round as a free action.

    miss chance and natural 20's

It's a game mechanic used under certain circumstances, like concealment or invisibility. Anytime someone has concealment against an attacker (in the area of a Darkness spell or in fog, for example), the attacker always suffers a 20% miss chance for each attack. This simulates the added degree...
