    D&D 5E (2014) Adv. League: What's in it for a GM?

How about DMing AL at a convention? There the benefit is a badge. You can even bargain on slots for the badge. I had a local con tell me that they only gave out badges for running xx slots and I bargained them down to x- slots for a badge (they were so short on judges).

I'm looking for the newest OSR game out there. Has anything been released in the last 6 months or so?

    Those other two pillars

One problem I have with the interaction pillar is it tends to be one PC talking to a DM. Does anyone have any advice for minimizing the DM-PC talk time and maximizing the PC-PC talk time?

    The 5 Best D&D Miniatures

I like the 1-square-sized black dragon mini. Psychic Warrior is also quite amazing.

D&D 5E (2014) Thank you WoTc: I feel like 5th edition has brought the spirit back into D&D.

I like 5e, too. But I find I am playing more and more Labyrinth Lord. The OSR community has some nice output. I also noticed that OSR games were up something like 12.5% in one of the enworld survey things.

    5e Monster Design: Hobgoblin

So I have been having some trouble understanding how to properly rank CR for the Hobgoblin, which has an AC of 18 from its armor. This is a CR 13 in the DMG table pg. 274. I need help with how to effectively design monsters with armor. How much should chain + shield add to a monster's CR? Any...

D&D 5E (2014) The RPG or the Brand?

The best D&D movie would actually be one about Gary Gygax. Creation of the game, rag tag assortment of laughable oddballs, evil suits, Gygax sells his interest in TSR. Low cost to make and biopics have been relatively successful thanks to Aaron Sorkin. Things such as Moneyball or the Social...

[Updated] Chris Sims & Jennifer Clarke Wilkes Let Go From WotC

Reading through some of these posts, as a business, I think it is time to bring in some new people with new ideas and cut ties with more current employees.

    D&D 5E (2014) Is Concentration Bugging You?

My group experimented with letting IOUN stones maintain concentration on certain levels of spells (depending on the color). The result was an even MORE Vancian feel to the game. They even crafted a spelljammer to fly into space to the planet where all IOUN stones are mined (Jangk, I believe).

[Updated] Chris Sims & Jennifer Clarke Wilkes Let Go From WotC

I'm sorry to hear about that. I guess the lesson here is never, ever move off of Magic The Gathering. I'm guessing more layoffs are coming.

    Top 10 Classic D&D Movies

So is this pre-D&D creation or post-D&D creation? Someone mentioned Fire and Ice, which is very close to Conan being a Frazetta movie. There is also Flesh+Blood with Rutger Haeur, which has no magic, but does feel very D&D-ish. Witchfinder General. As others have mentioned, the Pirates of the...

D&D 5E (2014) I believe the Greyhawk Campaign setting was a missed opportunity for Wizards of the Coast.

    Dues for the Dead

5 out of 5 rating for Dues for the Dead When taken as a straight combat module, this is just average. However, when Dues for the Dead is run as an exploration with some combats, this module really shines. There are encounters with other explorers (that are trapped), other explorers (finishing...
