I agree with Mistwell, just start the campaign without the PHB chapter 6 optional rules. Its 8 pages that produce something like 80% of the D&D questions out there. You can slowly add it in, allow them all at once, or just play one campaign without them as you see fit. Players are still...

You could store a Conjure Woodland Beings in the ring and use it to summon 8 CR 1/4 Pixies. The pixies can cast dispel magic (among other things) so you could essentially dispel magic (or polymorph, entangle, sleep, fly, etc) 16 times per day. Once from a normal cast and once from the 8 pixies...

I imagine there would be a secret society, the Bomkf (Binders of the Mad King's Fortress), that would exist in the town to prevent visiting adventurers and the occasional powerful and overly curious mage from poking around the hills and trying to find the sealed fortress.

I don't know. Does it cause conflicts with the concentration mechanic for spell casters? I have not put it back into the game. Not in 5e, but yes in other systems. If the players are unhappy and you are unhappy the house rule seems like a good way to handle this.

Hmm the older editions pretty much have an answer to lots of problems. From this edition you might consider the concentration mechanic for casters. And possibly advantage/disadvantage with saving throws. If you don't allow retainers or henchman for high-level PCs some of the more basic powers...

That does sound useful if you post it when you are done. I have used the tables at the back of the 1e monster manual 2 for monsters by climate so far with 5e.

My first copy started falling apart after 3 weeks. Large sections in the spells detached. I was able to return it and get a new copy. The new copy seems fine so far.

It is probably something related to the extra life 24-hour game for charity at the end of the month. Perkins is participating in that.
