    The Spell Compendium!!! Thanks Wizards!

That sounds like it should be pretty confuing to me. In other words, it will contain 3.0 and 3.5 spells. So if its alphabetized...

Need help with a plot point

Well, if the tribes really are peaceful, he's gonna fail miserably. Definitely make the Evil Empire just that. Killing people for their own good is evil, so you may as well make them Evil. What would make him change his mind? Best, IMO, to make it a combination of things, rather than one Big...

    Rate WG7 - Castle Greyhawk

Didn't vote. I've never run or played in it. Heck, I don't think I've ever even seen it!

The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh - your experiences?

I've only played in U1 once, and never in the others. As this was 20+ years ago I can't recall many details. It was one of the first, and best, D&D modules I've ever played in. Ned was a total shock to us all! Green slime, weasles and pirates, oh my! Not sure if we actually lost any characters...

Getting a campaign rolling with something different. Suggerstions?

I've used/been in most of the above and they usually work well. Another thing I often do is post a job notice for the PCs to answer. One thing, though, is to make sure that the Players are willing to have whatever characters they come up with play together. As has been said in other threads, it...

    Dungeon Realism

For me, a dungeon needs at least one or two of the following things to work: A source of water, a source of food, a way out and waste disposal. A way out can cover for several of these, so I usually have a long tunnle leading to the surface somewhere that the PCs aren't likely to find the...

Rate B2: Keep on the Borderlands

I gave it a nine. Great module, one I've played in several times and GMed once or twice. But it can be a bit complicated, so no 10 from me! ;)

Poll and discussion: one PC per player, or many?

Way back when, with only 2 or 3 players it was acceptable to play more than one character. Of course, role playing was pretty poor. Thankfully, I haven't had that experience for quite some time.

d20 Economy - Has anyone revamped it?

I'm going to leave the economy issue mostly alone. (I tend to swear mightily whenever I look at the PHB price list. Some are quite close to actual midevil prices, but most are right off the chart.) I will, however, relate a tale from one of our 1e games. We did a job for a hamlet (around...

Formally Building a Raft now building a canoe

Making the raft, with their high Survival skills, should be simple. Just say they take X amount of time to do so and don't waste any more valuable playing time. What I really want to know is why the village they are going to is on a poisoned river?

Cloaks, rings, robes, hats, bucklers, and codpieces.

I generally buy my characters one set of clothing, armor and a bar of soap. Out in the wilds or in the dungeon, who cares? (But the soap and prestidigitation get used whenever something icky happens!) We did have a player who was very much into the clothing thing. (A swashbuckler with several...

What to run for a group of complete beginners?

I would strongly recomend not starting with Sunless Citadel. It gets real hard much too quickly for noobies, IMHO. And even if they do survive they slam right into the "Whadda ya mean, there's no possible way to rescue them?" situation at the end. I'd be hesitant to run it (at least as written)...

What are the different archetypes of superheroes/supervillains?

Huh, how could we forget: The Tank: The Hulk, Thing, etc. The big, really strong, pretty much invulnerable guy. The Incredible Shrinker: Marvel's Ant Mand and Wasp, DC's Atom, etc. Flyers: DC's Hawkman and Hawkgirl. And Marvel's Wasp also fits the bill. The Blaster: Marvel's X-Man...

What sort of setting do you use for your superhero games?

I didn't vote, as I've only played in a few very short lived superhero games. (A couple of DC Heroes - first ed, and one Champions 5th ed.) If I was going to run one myself I'd be very tempted to use Super Babes. I just like the fun feel of the setting.

How does a lack of steel effect a campaign setting?

Wrong. Mostly. The trouble with "iron" is that there was a lot of varience depending on local conditions and techniques. Typical 'soft iron' was, indeed, softer than bronze (-1). 'Hard iron' (near-steel) was much better. Of course, the real reason that iron replaced bronze was cost, as has...

Battlemats - do you draw as you go?

I draw as I go, as do most of the other GMs I've played with. On rare occasions however, say when a building/campsite will cover most of the mat I might draw the outline, or more, in advance. (This requires that the PCs have seen it and intend to investigate at the end of the previous session.)...

    Reward for Roleplaying?

I will give them out in small amounts for role playing. Not acting. (Playing in character, ham it up all you want, but if it isn't in character you don't get anything extra.) (?) Most of the people I've played with over the years have had an arsenel of some sort or other. Usually swords and...
