    Ohio GameDay IV planning

I am certainly up for a trip and I could probably bring at least 2 or 3 lurkers/gamers with me who would participate (and of course, they would pay). Also, I could run some games (something either supers, or Call of Cthulhu or Paranoia or - as a treat for some - I have a zany Macho Women...

Mutants and Masterminds - limited copies available!

The second edition is simply wonderful. The problems I had with first edition are pretty much fixed by everything in second edition. I did playtesting for this one and really wanted to scream to the world some of the great things that were going on but the non disclosure I signed kept me from...

    cheap 3-d settings and minis

Yeah, the D&D minis are actually quite great for a variety of things. The game itself is fun and you can use them in your game if you need monsters and obviously you can suspend your disbelief to use them as supers, horror RPGs, etc.

    Has the RPGA failed?

Many of these stories make me sad. I mean it sounds like the RPGA is certainly a benefit to some but for most it just doesn't meet its own goals.

Enk is sexy that way. :) Thanks for the opinion on my opinion! I'd like to think I know what's goin' on in the world. Maybe next time we get together with Mr. and Mrs. Enk he'll invite you along.

Hmmm. Well, I AM kind of an idiot . . . And I do forget things a lot. :( In any event, I know that the Bookery in Dayton will, upon request, stay open as late as you want them to if you tell them ahead of time. No problem with food or drinks, either.

    Ohio GameDay IV planning

I guess I am part of the 'Dayton Crew' but the only other person I have met around here is Enkhidu. Maybe the Dayton Crew should plan an informal preliminary meeting where I get to meet everyone, such as the elusive Fett!

Rate S1: The Tomb of Horrors (corrected poll options)

It appears that S1 is controversial. Many people have rated it very high or very low which makes it even more interesting to me.

Bookery is the place I was thinking of with the basement. I have a pretty tight 'in' with those guys. The guys at Wexford, however, well . . . keeping the 'Eric's Grandma's Rule' alive, let's leave it at I don't quite care for them.

    Ohio GameDay IV planning

Well, I guess we would first have to find out the interest level (of us Buckeyes) and then find a good location based upon that. It sounds like we have a number of people willing to research the host city but some places would be better (or worse) than others depending on the amount of people...

Black Box DM or Open Book DM?

For me, those details only have a limited amount of fun. I mean it is the kind of thing that if it interests my players then I can get into it but I would rather keep things kind of vague unless it was really important. Though at the same time, the details are also the kinds of things that I...

    Ohio GameDay IV planning

Depending on how many people would be coming, there is a game store in my area (Dayton) with a large basement that hosts games if you contact them in advance. As I recall there are ten large tables (4 x 6) but pretty scarce on chairs. I know they would love to host something like this but...

Rate S1: The Tomb of Horrors (corrected poll options)

I voted 8. I thought it is a classic in the sense that it has crazy mayhem and whereas it does not fit the role of the 'traditional' D&D modual (lots of combat and such) it does have lots of weird rooms and strange puzzles. Yes it can be frustrating but I suspect if you created characters for...

Which illustrator's work would you like to see in gaming?

Joe Mad would certainly fit right in, actually. Especially with something like Eberron.

    Players misplacing PC equipment

It sounds as if the Bag of Holding has become a Bag of Devouring. For this situation I would have NO problems saying 'tough.' If the players can't keep track of it, then too bad. Of course, if there was something in there that the players recall that you, the GM, also recall then I suppose...

    Damage saves: Too deadly?

Damage saves are cool but it adds in something of an unpredictable factor with combat. For instance, hit points give you a general idea how long a character can last in a combat, as well as how long a creature may last in a combat. Damage saves have someone who could be out in a shot or two...

    Are Undead Scary?

I think that standard undead are scary to low level characters but as they get higher the fear factor loses something (let's face it, as RPGs go D&D is hardly scary to most people).
