    OSR Homebrew classes for OSE

We've developed quite a few, optimised for Osric and OSE Advanced but 100% compatible we think with AD&D 1st ed and any other OSR. We've got the Witch, The Diabolist, the Wild Domains Barbarian, OSR (Western) Monk and the Peasant in the Player's Guide to Dunromin, we've got the Courtesan, the...

OSR Good OSE/LL/BX-Related Adventures without Evil Humanoids?

Alas, most of ours feature nasty humanoids at some point but this one, DriveThruRPG, Has Ghouls as the bad guys for the first third? Or these two are both mega-dungeons with all sorts in them: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/477802/sm10-the-pit-of-panzar?affiliate_id=295776...

    OSR 1 Gp vs 1xp?

Rather than handing out XP for GP we run the option of spending GP on training and getting 1gp per XP, this slows progress, but that suits us, but also makes the Guilds more important, keeps the PCs poor (and desperate) and so on. We play OSR/1st edition. We've done it for a LONG time now and...

    OSR vs OSE

Yes, I was being inaccurate. I would say Osric is more like Ad&d but tidied up (a lot) and OSE Advanced is, as you say, some interesting stuff from Ad&d repackaged into the B/X mechanism.

    OSR vs OSE

As others have said, OSE is a specific version of the classic D&D Basic/Expert ruleset (they do an AD&D version as well called OSE Advanced), OSR is a more generic term referring to ALL the products based on the classic D&D style rules systems, and there are MANY. I write stuff for Dunromin...

GMs: Do you have a "Before" race for your setting?

Oooooh yeah. Although the nature of the game world means that pretty much anything can be anywhere as the history is so fractured with so many civilisations coming and going over thousands of years. But there was a race that existed before or maybe ruling over the others, probably creating most...

    OSR Best introductory BX/OSR scenarios

Can I chuck this one into the mix? It's designed for OSR (OSRIC and OSE Advanced but will work with ANY of them). This has been written specifically for new players and DMS; heavy on the description and process to put in as many safety nets as possible - three small but challenging adventures in...

TSR Having multiple dungeons available to the players

Good point. In my experience players quite like the choice at first - liking the non-railroading sensation. They then panic as they have no idea what order to do the adventures in!

TSR TOEE: What happens when the party ignores the Moathouse?

If the party are hanging around then the cultists in the Trading Post might be ordered to "do something" about the party. While the main two NPCs there will cream a low-level party they might delegate the task to the lower level thugs and (maybe supported by some of the guards from the...

TSR Having multiple dungeons available to the players

D&D General Matt Colville on adventure length

It's an interesting question. In the past I have linked commercial scenarios into a personal campaign, usually based around character arcs. As an independent resource producer we are still trying to figure out what people want. We've done a short adventure collection (Trials of a Young Wizard)...

AD&D 2E A bunch of 2e PDFs seem to have bumped up in price

I am reading that sales are plummeting so it's understandable if frustrating that prices rise to try and maintain enough to live on. For us, it's a hobby so our pricing is aimed for value without sacrificing quality, and our prices aren't changing any time soon... www.dunrominuniversitypress.co.uk

OSR What's the best introductory BX/OSR scenario for new players and DMs?

Reading all kinds of adventures can inspire the DM to start writing their own. When I first started my adventures were purely a map with numbered rooms and a list of monsters that inhabited them. After reading more adventures I started to include more and more detail on the tricks and traps. Now...

AD&D 1E AD&D (yes, 2e too) players and referees, what do you think of rolling under for ability and NWP checks?

I always go with roll under on a d20, but then I play 1st ed and OSR with descending armour class so the lack of consistency isn't an issue. Being a dice goblin I also make difficult rolls on a d30. Alternatively use the Runequest solution and multiply the stat by 5 and use it as a percentages...

AD&D 1E AD&D players and referees, what do you think of ascending AC?

I think we need to know what ACKs is? (You were hoping someone would ask weren't you? Go on - admit it! ;)
