I agree with EricNoah. I read the books once through before the movies ever came out, and I really liked them a lot. Now, I'm starting to read the books again, and I'm enjoying them even more after I've seen the first two movies.

I'm leaning towards playing a 1/2 Orc Barbarian, who will eventually take levels in another class, probably fighter or ranger. I'm starting at 1st level, and I've never played a Barbarian before. Any tips or pointers out there? Would I be better off with a Human? A Dwarf? A Gnome (Following...

You're using two hands, therefore you have twice as much muscle behind each blow. X2 Str damage is probably more appropriate, but that would be game breaking.

I too, like the option of taking a level or two of Barbarian. It adds a lot to the class, and since Wilderness Lore is a Class Skill of Barbarians, it doesn't take much away. I'd suggest being a Half-Orc. Int & Cha really aren't that useful (although the Ranger has a lot of great class...
