Why? The more I look back at more old comics, the more I realize how much of a liberal viewpoint they all take. I wish they could just concentrate on good storytelling rather than being PC by bringing in a gay hero. Makes you wonder why it's ok to bring in a gay hero most people have never...

Let me begin by saying that I do NOT own a MM. I see their stat adjustments in the DMG, but I don't know anything else about the races. I also see a lot of people choosing to play characters of these races, and I'm wondering why.

I like it, but I think I'd rather stick with the bonus powers gained from being a regular monk. The Acolyte of the fist seems too combat orientated for my tastes (I know the Monk itself is, but the regular class presented in the PHB has some powers I'd rather not give up).

The only reason to ever take this feat is if you're going with the OotBI PrC, as mentioned above. Otherwise, it really sucks.

Just to be clear: You mean the Monk presented in the PHB when you say "quintessential Monk," right? Or is there a "Quintessential Monk" PrC? Or is it a book? Also, my Monk is a particularly sneaky-type Monk (maxed out Hide and Move Silently). Is there a PrC fitted to his style?

Thanks for all the responss, everybody. I didn't remember that Shelob was at teh end of TTT (it's been a while since I read the books). this must have been what my friend meant. I feel much better now.

All PRC's that I can find sap away from the coolness of the original Monk class. Any suggestions of PRC's on places I might not have seen yet? (I only own the PHB and Sword and Fist) Thanks

What's the deal? I know by the rules you'd just add the two together for regular BAB, but how does it work with unarmed BAB?

My biggest question: How much is little sucker this going to set me back? ON EDIT: I just realized that the books themselves are going to be re-released. Nevermind, I'll just keep the sticky notes of revised rules in my 3.0 Edition books. Besides, they have character this way. ;)
