    Pathfinder 2E Hero Points

How to gain narrative control? Simple. Instead of using your rerolls in combat, use them during social interactions to give you a new roll on Diplomacy (Make an Impression) or Diplomacy (Request), or other similar social situations. A single roll can make a big difference in such situations.

    Pathfinder 2E Hero Points

All three of your proposed additions to PF2's hero points system seem extremely overpowered to me. It might work for you in your home games, but I suspect you'll find little traction with the wider community of PF2 players. Option 3 looks especially bad for your party members, unless you're...

Pathfinder 2E Playtest rules vs. Core rules : What changed? And is there anyone who still prefers the Playtest rules?

The biggest difference is the resonance rules, which I really hated. Too many limits on magic item use. You'd be much better off with the PF2 rules, and houseruling anything you really don't like. Personally, there are only a very few details that I would even consider houseruling (like Battle...

D&D General How do you feel about Save or Die?

Save or die has been part of D&D since its inception. It was never a "fun" thing to have happen to your character, but risking your (character's) life is part of what makes an adventure exciting. The best adventures are when you just barely succeed, and sometimes that's accompanied by a few...

    Examples of high level characters

There must be such examples in the Lost Omens Character Guide, though whether they are built quite like a PC is another thing. The Paizo forums are the best place to look for specific builds.

Pathfinder Lost Omens Character Guide: A Review

PFS isn't the only game in town. <g> Find some friends and get a home game going. Restrictive rules have their place, and shared worlds rely on them. But a home game will let you negociate more freely with your DM and you'll have a far more satisfying sense of continuity and character...

    What's the best RPG?

The best RPG is the one you play with your friends, month after month, with lots of roleplay and ups and downs and narrow escapes and heroic deeds. And that you enjoy so much that you look forward to your next game session. Some folks will tout their favorite game system (DD5, OSR, PF2...

A Memorial to Don Kaye, Co-Founder of TSR Due Out in December

I believe I got started in 1974, so you've got years on me, Rob. Those initial decades were seminal times. So much great material that is often forgotten today. It's good to see you keeping the old grognard flame alive!

    D&D 5E (2014) Damage on a missed attack roll

PF2 has a feat that allows fighters to do half damage on a missed attack roll (but not a critical failure). DD5, not so much.

Isn't the guy who played the speeder driver the same actor who plays the geology professor on Big Bang Theory?

An Interview with Lawrence Whitaker of the Design Mechanism

Great stuff! It's always a pleasure to see excellent RPGs get the news coverage they deserve. Keep up the good work, Lawrence! Fioracitta, an Italian-inspired fantasy city! Shades of Machiavelli and En Garde! I can't wait. Robust fantasy cities have been a favorite ever since Judge's Guild came...

Maybe It's Time for a Break?

Having a rotating DM can be a great way to play. We did that on several occasions over recent years, and loved the dynamic we had going from one DM to the next. Taking a break is important. I got started playing D&D in the mid 70s (in Iowa), and some weeks we played nearly every day. Later on...

When Your PCs Go From Paragon to Renegade

The trope "killing changes a man" has been explored again and again in literature. I think it's a ripe melon waiting to be picked in this case. If the PCs are becoming more and more "horrible", then the DM should let them, even offer up situations where their horribleness becomes even more...

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder 2e: Actual Play Experience

I find PF2 to be a tactical game that encourages players to do more than just charge in and hit, hit, hit their foes. Maneuvers like trip and grapple are viable options, moreso than I found in PF1. Not to mention moving around the terrain to get an advantage.
