Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Ah, you haven't experienced the joy of not having to pick up your stuff. Separate bathrooms are nice, but even having two sinks with ample counter space can make a huge difference. One thing I miss from living in Taiwan is because most people live in apartments and just don't have a lot of...

TTRPG Genres You Just Can't Get Into -and- Tell Me Why I'm Wrong About X Genre I Don't Like

Sounds like a fun read. In reality, it don't know that raptors would do all that much better against fire arms. I would probably want to do an alt‑history where there was a larger and more sustained attempt by early vikings to take territory in North America. Your "underhill" campaign sounds...

D&D General When We Were Wizards: Review of the Completed Podcast!

I taped that episode on VHS when it came out. It really did make a difference to have an avuncular spokesperson speaking common sense in response to the insanity of that time. In the When We Were Wizards podcast it was interesting how upset he was with how he felt set up and ambushed by 60...

    GM fiat - an illustration

My response as GM reading both spells from the two different systems is..."challenge accepted!" :devilish:

What about alt-history? An old west where racism doesn't exist? The problem with old west is going to be who will be the antagonist which is generally going to mean taking on one human group based on history against another. Unless you do a cowboys vs. aliens style game.

    D&D 5E (2024) Sigil Review Thread (+)

I set up a Windows 11 ARM VM in Parallels on a MacBook Pro 14", Nov 2023, 18 GB memory, Sequoia 15.3.1. No matter how much memory I allocated to the VM it crashes. Maybe someone could get emulators to run run on an older Mac with an Intel chip. For me, I was able to install it, set up my...

With the current discount on DTRPG it was an easy buy.

Yeah, but it would help if EN World would create more forums for other systems, so you don't have to scroll through the "what's new" threads looking for a discussion of a system you are interested in. I've tried to start and participate in WFRP discussions and some have been good. But it is easy...

TTRPG Genres You Just Can't Get Into -and- Tell Me Why I'm Wrong About X Genre I Don't Like

Loved Star Finder when I played it in the 80s. But I don't think I would get as much out of it today other than the warm feeling of nostalgia. Gamma World, on the other hand, I would play again in an instant and would love an updated version of that setting. The mutations, factions, discovery...

TTRPG Genres You Just Can't Get Into -and- Tell Me Why I'm Wrong About X Genre I Don't Like

Yeah, I suppose that is more of a challenge with certain systems and settings, but ultimately its an issue with any game or campaign. It is important to set expectations before everyone sits down to play. There are some games I am picky about who I'll play with. Not everyone is going to be a...

TTRPG Genres You Just Can't Get Into -and- Tell Me Why I'm Wrong About X Genre I Don't Like

At the last Game Hole con, I learned that CoC could be silly, fun, and yet have scenes that were off-putting. The DM ran his own adventure based on the TV show the Gilmore Girls. It worked surprisingly well. I think think "horror" genre can works best when it isn't grim start from start to...

TTRPG Genres You Just Can't Get Into -and- Tell Me Why I'm Wrong About X Genre I Don't Like

Thanks for the tip. I got the primer for the new edition. Looks interesting. I like the setting at first skim. I'll need to see what adventures they publish for it as that is going to make it or break it for me. I just don't have the time to create my own from scratch. Seems like the game is...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I wish you luck! I can relate in that I love to find old "coffee shop zines" from the slacker 80s. Those kinko-printed booklets that would be distributed at coffee shops around town in the days before the internet and mobile devices. A lot of junk, some amazing gems, and much nostalgia.

    D&D 5E (2024) What's In D&D's New Starter Set?

$50 is just inside the price range for birthday gift. I don't think it will scare the target audience away, but if they could get it to under $40 that would get into impulse buy and b-day give for kid's friends b-days territory.

TTRPG Genres You Just Can't Get Into -and- Tell Me Why I'm Wrong About X Genre I Don't Like

First, a surprising benefit of this thread are the mentions and discussions of games I was unaware of. The great thing about ENworld is the diversity of people with diverse gaming experiences who are members. What I don't like about ENworld is that it is mostly a D&D discussion board and trying...
