Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I wonder how these folks act when invited to the home of people in the real world who have different rules on shoes on or language used? I would like to think some people are more likely to be this way online, but I also think so many people spending so much time online his likely leeched into...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Some customers take "having it your way" too far.

    D&D General Best dungeons?

Depends what you are looking for. Do you want it to be a campaign length location or just a cool place for a few sessions. I ran a five year campaign based in and around the Rappan Athuk mega-dungeon. I hesitate to recommend it because it is huge and is a bit of a hodgepodge, bordering on...

D&D General what would a standard human pantheon look like?

There are lots of human polytheistic pantheons to draw from. Read up on historical pantheons beyond the greek, roman, and norse pantheons. It also depends on how wide-ranging the campaign is. If the party will be travelling far and wide, I would have more than one. I think it would be...

D&D 5E (2014) How do you do Bastions?

Other than a brief glance when skimming through the new DMG, I'm not yet familiar with, and haven't used, the new Bastion system. But in my last D&D campaign, I used MCDM's Strongholds and Followers, which I thought gave rules with the right level of crunch and interesting, but not...

Here Are 2025's Most Anticipated TTRPGs... As Voted By You!

Well, you post finally got me to check out their web site. I like what I see and what I've been hearing about. I'm just not sure I want to buy another fantasy RPG. I wory about sinking a hundred or so dollars into material that will just sit on my shelf. But I'm going to check the various...

Here Are 2025's Most Anticipated TTRPGs... As Voted By You!

Sure, so any publisher should reach out to their base. The fact that a publisher does shows a positive level of engagement. I'm perhaps a bit hypocritical in that as a consumer I rarely take the time to respond to calls to action to "spread the word", vote on a poll, and I will never create and...

    Ah, got it.

    What's your VTT of choice?

Never even heard of the system. Will have to check it out on Foundry.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I don't know much about inflation, except that eating pineapple can make some people gassy, but also contains bromine which can prevent 'rotten egg gas.'

    Patrons?

I love patrons. They offer so much story-telling potential and adventure hooks, but it helps to have mechanical support to make it feel more integrated in the game. I ran a five-year D&D campaign where I added MCDM's Strongholds and Followers, plus reputation rules based off an old ENworld...

Nope, I toss them. I'm not much of a collector.

What are your TTRPG Goals for 2025?

Use my time and money more effectively to focus on things I'll use and will help run the game. A lot of this is cutting back, more than doing more. I think I'm done with using music in my online games, the reward to effort ratio isn't good, especially since a lot of the players find it...

What do you use Chat GPT for?

For gaming, I use ChatGPT mainly to help me write macros for Foundry and to generate lists of random names. I've gotten good enough with my prompt writing to generate a list of a 100 names and put it in a JSON script that I can just import into Foundry. ChaptGPT will even find an appropriate...

Taking better notes when reading a new RPG rule set.

Sticking specifically to "taking notes", I've found that making my own cheat sheets and DM screens was the best way for me to learn a system. Generally, published DM screens never really fit with exactly what I need. When I was still running mostly in-person games, I used the Worlds Greatest DM...

    What's your VTT of choice?

If you run multiple games systems, some using dice and other using cards, both Roll20 and Foundry support card functionality. Foundry's card management is a bit clunky, but functional.

    What's your VTT of choice?

Moving to PF2e is the perfect excuse to move to Foundry. Yeah. If you are already invested in DDB, no need to rebuy everything for each VTT. AFAIK, Fantasy Grounds, Roll20, and Foundry all have ways to import from DDB. But if I run 5e again, I think I would just run it in DDB using DDB Maps.

    What's your VTT of choice?

The highlighted sentence is an excellent reason to stay with a VTT. Even if there is no lock in, it still requires a significant effort to migrate you content and learn a new tool. Also I think Roll20 is a pretty darn good VTT and that is based on my experience before the recent upgrades. I...
