    D&D 5E (2014) Warlock's Pact of the Chain's Imp, Quasit, and Psuedodragon.

Couldn't find it through Google. Can you give more details about it?

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlock's Pact of the Chain's Imp, Quasit, and Psuedodragon.

I've played in two campaigns with those variant familiars and it wasn't a problem. I'm now playing in a campaign where the DM gave a gazer (like a baby beholder) as as a familiar. So far no problems as the DC on the eye rays are so low that the enemy usually beats them.

Two movies really worth the money

This is the first thing I found when I searched for Fist of the North Star: It's not the movie you mentioned, but it does look like it could have been the He-Man movie everyone wanted.

Advice on on-line gaming for a complete novice

Roll20 seems to have the easiest search engine for finding open games imo. Another resource would be StartPlaying. Most of the games are paid but I have seen a few free ones. Discord is also a good place to find games. There is one for WFRP (Ratcatcher, irrc) and many for D&D. I would not...

Rules FAQ How Does Mounted Combat Work in D&D 5E?

You didn't watch the video based on your comments. It puts to rest a lot of your arguments. Beyond that, D&D combat is more like a skirmish than a battle. I've never come up against a pike formation of orcs in any campaign. Most combats start within 60 feet so a lone archer is dead against...

Rules FAQ How Does Mounted Combat Work in D&D 5E?

Here's a video from someone more versed in medieval combat and warfare, but my take is "just kill the horse!" is similar to suggestions to "just shoot the gun out of his hand!" It was impractical and not easily done in practice. Exploring the loss of a mount one time might be interesting, but...

Rules FAQ How Does Mounted Combat Work in D&D 5E?

If you control the warhorse you have an effective movement range of 120 feet. Or a free disengage with 60 feet of movement. Just having 60 feet of movement is a huge buff in combat. The problem is our DM likes to target our mounts even though it is unrealistic that enemies would ignore the...

    LFG D&D 5e AL historic tier-2 awarding shield +2/+3 before august 27th

Do they really check over that stuff? I've never had a DM check my character but I've only played at low levels.

D&D 5E (2014) Can your Druids wear metal armor?

Our DM's go to debuff is heat metal so the druid is better off without metal armor. In addition to the chitin and bone armor someone mentioned, there is dragon scale armor. I think one adventure had a legendary giant goat you could kill for its skin.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Beyond Cancels Competition

Do you use volunteer play testers? Do you pay them? If not, get off your high horse and stop being hyperbolic and using language that would get others a time out.

D&D 5E (2014) Dungeons of Drakkenheim kickstarter reaches a million

Can anyone estimate how much profit they are going to make off this kickstarter? They have 4 people listed on their team, but that YouTuber the Dungeon Coach has 13 listed for his kickstarter (Alkander's Almanac). He's only at $186K with three days to go and I don't think he's doing custom...

Sandy Petersen's recent statements on colonialism, transgender athletes, and homeschooling

D&D 5E (2014) Need Encounter Suggestions for Archdruid's Animal Shapes

Have wave one be the villagers. They are covered in blood and rolling on the ground while wailing and gnashing their teeth when the party first spots them. When the villagers see the party, they will come running up to them with shock and horror on their faces. They will then mob the party...

D&D General What is the most you've spent on a gaming accessory?

A lot of people at my FLGS used mini tablets for using D&D Beyond in Adventurers League. So I bought the Ipad Air plus accessories for around $750. Then the pandemic hit and haven't used it since for AL. I'm now using it to take notes in our Roll20 campaign. It's great, but I wish I'd...

D&D General Professional DMs making $45k/year off it?

True that. I guess that's why a lot of paid DMs are from the UK/Ireland. Free healthcare. Does Paypal or Venmo 1099 you at the end of the year? A lot of independent contractors use their spouse's health benefits. Our neighbor is a contractor and his wife is a teacher so they do fine. It...

    D&D 5E (2014) The warlock is a "better" wizard than a wizard

What fantasy characters are you comparing him to? The most famous would be Merlin or Gandalf I suppose. I don't see the Warlock as stacking up next to them.

(+)What Do You Want In A Character Sheet?

I don't know how RP heavy your system is, but part of the genius of the D&D character sheet is that it has the personality traits, flaws, bonds, etc. on the first page and distilled into single sentences. I think it helps struggling role players to remember their character's motivations. The...

D&D 5E (2014) Bosses should have half as many actions as there are PCs

Check out Sly Flourish's (the Lazy DM) rules for running hordes. Running Hordes: The Lazy Way to Run Lots of D&D Monsters Rules Summary Tally damage done to any member of the horde in a single tally. Any time that tally is higher than the hit points of a single monster, remove a monster...

D&D 5E (2014) Bosses should have half as many actions as there are PCs

The Ravenloft Mist Hunters adventure I was in gave stars for role play and avoiding certain actions in the adventure. The more stars, the more legendary actions the BBEG had at the end. Some were movement, some were spell effects. It worked out well imho. This was a level 3 adventure. The...

    DDAL Ravenloft: Mist Hunters

Well, it's finally here. I got to play in DDRL-01. It's a four hour murder mystery. This was part of the D&D Virtual Play Weekend. It was actually the second in the series. The first was an Epic that I missed. Like all D&D murder mysteries I've played in, I'd give it 2 stars. Don't throw...
