    Million Dollar TTRPG Kickstarter Club

I'm getting bombarded by their ads on YouTube. I wonder how much they'll have left after advertising.

    D&D 5E (2014) Players railroading dungeonmasters

I saw this video and didn't quite understand it. It claims that extensive player backstories railroad the DM and that backstories should be created in the game rather than beforehand. I watched it again and it still had me scratching my head as they gave no examples but had a link to a five...

    D&D 5E (2014) What's in a temple?

I recently watched Conan the Barbarian. There was a temple to the snake god where they worshiped and offered sacrifice to a giant snake! Something like that would be cool. Maybe a giant zombie snake that only eats the brains. The rest of the bodies get thrown to the otyugh.

D&D 5E (2014) D&D PODCASTS: Any good Podcasts out there for DMs?

I'm glad you pointed this out. The few times I saw him as a guest he seemed almost manic and I was wondering if it was just me.

    D&D 5E (2014) What's in a temple?

Mechanical/HVAC in an underground level: Bound steam mephits to heat bathing pools, an air elemental to provide ventilation, and an Otyugh to clean up sewage. This would also give your party an extra escape route.

TSR Running list of potential problematic issues in TSR era DnD

Stop trying to mind read. You are absolutely horrible at it. I wasn't suggesting what you wrote and how you could get there from what I wrote is beyond me.

TSR Running list of potential problematic issues in TSR era DnD

Was the guy even from Africa? You know that at least in North African they had armor and swords similar to what he depicted?

    Shillelagh - Why no scaling?

My guess would be they are assuming the sneak attack is with a fencing lunge. I believe this wasn't common in our own world until the 16th Century so maybe in Faerun it is also a new, sneaky technique where you suddenly increase your attack range by 1.5x the distance against an unsuspecting and...

D&D 5E (2014) Is there a literary or film archetype for the Ancestral Guardian barbarian or other subclasses???

Here's the clips from Conan if anyone's interested: Valeria's "Spirit Shield": Higher-resolution versions were blocked by YouTube from offsite viewing due to violence. o_O Mako's "Ancestral Protectors":

D&D 5E (2014) Is there a literary or film archetype for the Ancestral Guardian barbarian or other subclasses???

Thank you for the reference. I watched the movie last night and the scene you mentioned plus the one where his friends had to fight the spirits to revivify Conan after his crucifixion were the kinds of inspiration I was looking for.

Pogre's 2021 Miniatures and Models Thread - Yuan-ti group, Water Weird, and some Skinks.

Glad you are back. My favorites of the group are the witch hunter and Sir Felix. I really liked the griffon. It's shown me how to paint eagle wings now. The white tips really make the feathers pop.

D&D 5E (2014) Ideas for playing a Firbolg Twilight Cleric?

I don't think you get any tool proficiencies with Firbolg so I would make a custom background based off the Far Traveler or something similar and choose a tool proficiency like cook's utensils. That way you can cook nice, filling vegetarian meals on short and long rests. Who doesn't like a...

D&D 5E (2014) Moving out of concealment to attack - when is stealth broken?

Those that have done the math like Treantmonk have said that even a rogue getting sneak attack every round does not compare to a GWM or PAM fighter in terms of damage. Or compare a sneak attack from a 5th level rogue versus a wizard at the same level casting fireball.

D&D 5E (2014) My Bard Player just broke the game - and I love it!

D&D 5E (2014) Moving out of concealment to attack - when is stealth broken?

There's a good article here: http://dmsworkshop.com/2019/02/08/dnd-hiding-in-combat/ The jist is you can't hide if the target can see you clearly, but even dim light offers light obscurement. Attacking out of the shadows is such a common trope in sci-fi/fantasy that I'd hope a DM would at...

    D&D 5E (2014) NPC Allies?

The one in Avernus was ok but I hate the one in Strahd. Our DM is playing him for laughs and it just throws off every scene where he randomly speaks. Plus his cantrip damage is better than our Paladin's two melee attacks combined.

D&D 5E (2014) Rogues are Awesome. Is it the Tasha's Effect?

Add a few kobold archers to your encounters or a couple of pet wolves for the BBEG. Heck, add a goblin shaman druid with Summon Beast. Sure, it may annoy your rogue initially, but that 200 GP spell component the druid is carrying will make it totally worth it.

D&D 5E (2014) Rogues are Awesome. Is it the Tasha's Effect?

A held action for when the rogue pops out of cover fixes this. My DM uses this against mages that duck behind cover between turns.
