Extra dimensional spaces and divination magic

But remember that you can use a Detect Magic spell to find a Rope Trick, which creates a non-dimensional/extra-dimensional space. Notice I use these words interchangeably. I don't want to start another debate on it here, but if you read the Portable Hole magic item description, both terms are...

    Flurry of Touch Attacks

Wait I think I know where I got confused. Is it true you can't do unarmed strikes / energy drain / touch attack spells with the same attack? I think it came up once where there was an NPC Vampire Monk. The question was can it do energy drain while doing unarmed strikes.

    Flurry of Touch Attacks

Hold on hold on. You can't deliver a touch attack with an unarmed strike, as far as I remember. It's stated in the FAQ I believe. EDIT: Oh wow. NVM Hypersmurf you cleared it up. DAMN! My old rat bastard DM fooled me again!

Rope Trick - What is the 'hazard'?

Here is the official response: There is no specific bad effects. This is a DM's call where if the DM wishes to not allow things like bags in the rope trick to limit rope trick then it gives them a way to say "if you do you might cause a rift". So it's all just up to the DM in this case...

Getting those potions out in combat: How long?

I swear I read this somewhere too. Maybe it's specific for backpacks I don't know, but I can't find that reference now. But it does say that retrieving a stored item is a Move on page 141...

Getting those potions out in combat: How long?

You're right. Move action. PHB Page 141 on the table 8-2: Retrieve a stored item is a move action. Also interesting to note, is that manipulating an item is a Move action (Page 143). So, to retrive an item provokes one AoO, then actually drinking the potion could provoke another AoO (if the...

Rope Trick - What is the 'hazard'?

No, a Portable Hole opens an 'EXTRA-dimensional space'. Read the description. The problem was, and still is, what is the hazard?? And is there in fact a difference bettween non-dimensional and extra-dimensional as many claim? Edit: HOLY @#$@!!!! The description uses both extra and non!!!! OMG...

I'm assuming these are your own house rules...?

Getting those potions out in combat: How long?

Pretty sure retriving a stored item from a backpack is a full round action...

Interesting. But sounds very Diablo 2-ish... :uhoh:

Getting those potions out in combat: How long?

What do you guys do about storing potions (as Dm's)? I've been toying with the idea of a sort of 'Potion Belt', maybe making the maximum 4 potions on a belt, only one belt per character, and then having it a move action to retrive one (or part of a move action if they 'move', just like drawing...

Rope Trick - What is the 'hazard'?

Spells that produce their own extradimensional spaces, such as rope trick, pose no danger to occupants who may be using portable holes, bags of holding, and the like. "Nondimensional" seems to mean the same thing as "extradimensional" (they're used interchangeably in the description of the...

Rope Trick - What is the 'hazard'?

Ok short and simple. Rope Trick states that 'it is hazardous to bring an extra-dimensional space into another existing extra-dimensional space'. After a long perusal and hair pulling, I finally found out (realized) that the only extra-dimensional spaces mentioned anywhere else in the Core books...

Cover, line of effect, fireball ??

It's cool. I'm perfectly happy with the ruling that 'soft cover' doesn't require a mage to worry about targets. As I said before I only questioned whether or not a mage could cast directly through an adjacent square and risk his fireball detonating prematurely. Even in game I let the mage do...

Cover, line of effect, fireball ??

Here's the DM you wanted to point something out to. Luckily for my group I do realize there are 3 dimensions and not 2. In fact, even before Quake came out for the PC I knew there were 3 dimensions in the world. In turn the full of crap DM has got something to point out to you. A fireball fills...

Cover, line of effect, fireball ??

The way I was thinking was like this. If you're standing behind someone, even five feet behind them, and you're aiming your sniper rifle at someone (who is about the same size as the character right in front of you, but 30 feet away) then wouldn't that affect your aim? Isn't there still a...

Cover, line of effect, fireball ??

Actually the real fireball that was in question was when the mage was in the square directly behind the other character and wanted to cast his fireball straight through his square up ahead to the monsters. Anyway I now realize that 'soft cover' doesn't block line of effect, even though I still...

Cover, line of effect, fireball ??

Gee... thanks. Well thanks a lot. I'm the 'crap' DM who posed this question to my group and gave them the benefit of the doubt and still allowed them to cast the fireball through the other creatures. I wasn't sure about the ruling because I rememberd the '1 foot by 1 foot' square required for...
