Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide: The First Official D&D 5E Setting

If you feel like sharing, are there any meaningful updates on deities and places, lore-wise? What format did they use for their writeups on the various regions and gods (do gods info include their current state, relationships, divine realm and so on...)?

It is weird to read that. When has Ed publicly criticized WotC?

    D&D 5E (2014) Paladin Orders of Ilmater

The FR Wiki has a nice article about Ilmater and his church: http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Church_of_Ilmater#Orders That said, about the Order of the Golden Maple, I managed to find this: ''The Order of the Golden Maple is a branch of the Ilmatari church that began growing out of the...

    New Issue of Dragon+

I was actually more interested in an update on the race and their deities lore-wise, but thanks for the clarification. Guess we'll have to wait for the book for that.

    New Issue of Dragon+

Wait, so the SCAG preview regarding the Duergar that they were going to release with Extra Life has been released anyway?

    D&D 5E (2014) Corellion The Chaotic God

In FR, Corellon has two drow children: Eilistraee and Vhaeraun, whom he had from Araushnee (aka Lolth). While Vhaeraun worked with his mother to dethrone him, and currently is at odds with both his parents, Eilistraee has a rather strained relationships with her father, but they remain close (if...

D&D 5E (2014) With the reintroduction of PrCs which are on your 'must see' list?

Speciality priests could be made PrCs IMO. In some cases they carry a flavor that is really different from that of a normal cleric (Sword Dancers of Eilistraee, or Dweomerkeepers of Mystra for example), to the point of deserving class options on their own.

Here's That SCAG Table of Contents!

The quote is in the interview included in the latest Dragon+ issue. IMO, they should make a small pdf supplement for further gods, like they did for the 3e FRCS.

Here's That SCAG Table of Contents!

They could have offered at least one lore entry preview, rather than just mechanics, though.

Here's That SCAG Table of Contents!

There's going to be a lot more than those listed in the PHB, as the book is going to offer a ''tremendous wealth'' of patrons, to quote Steve Kenson. So, I'm expecting a 4e FRCS-style approach: some essential ''stats'' (like portfolio, power level, domains, symbol, allegiances perhaps) and a...

Here's That SCAG Table of Contents!

Considering that the cleric subsection says ''Divine Domain'', my guess is that those could be found there. It woud also be strange to put stats and mechanics in the middle of a section that is dedicated to background.

Here's That SCAG Table of Contents!

To some, the lore is the real meat, especially considering that FR is in dire need of an update, after the Sundering.

Here's That SCAG Table of Contents!

I think that they'll give a small update to the gods who came back after the Sundering, but that weren't revealed in the various novels, or that were revealed but just through a mention. They'll most likely detail the various racial pantheons as well.

Here's That SCAG Table of Contents!

If those domains are in the book, they will be in the crunchy section regarding the Cleric, not in the middle of a lore section. The gods part is so big, because a lot of them are back, and each will likely receive a small update.

Here's That SCAG Table of Contents!

Yeah they did go heavy on the gods, but after the Sundering they need an update. A lot of them are back, so my guess is that they'll be getting a couple lines of update each. Granted that they could have done that through articles, though.

First D&D "Extra Life" Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide Preview

Here it is: http://media.wizards.com/2015/downloads/dnd/SCAG_ToC_2k33.pdf It looks like the lore to crunch ratio will be more like 60/40, which could be fine. It looks like they included some general updates on the whole Faerun (5 pages dedicated to Toril and its lands), and they did go heavy...

First D&D "Extra Life" Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide Preview

We will see how much of it is crunch in the table of contents, which should be coming soon.

First D&D "Extra Life" Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide Preview

3 is a mix. It includes lore and history of the races, and *some* gaming material. That said, 5e FR desperately needs a lore update after the Sundering, and this book is supposed to deliver it, so I too think that the lore portion will be prevalent.
