    D&D 5E (2014) Melora = Eilistraee (in non-canon games)?

    D&D 5E (2014) Melora = Eilistraee (in non-canon games)?

Eilistraee is Lolth's and Corellon's daughter, that's why some adjustments would be needed to have the Dark Dancer and the Lady of the White Well as the same ''person''. Sehanine could be indeterminate, and Lolth the ''mother'' (I can't picture her being indeterminate, with all her despising...

    D&D 5E (2014) Melora = Eilistraee (in non-canon games)?

There is the possibility that Eilistraee didn't only return, but that she was never gone to begin with, just ''wounded'' and forced to hide (for quite a lot of reasons, but their discussion isn't really on topic with this thread. If you want more: http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Eilistraee...

    D&D 5E (2014) Melora = Eilistraee (in non-canon games)?

To my knowledge, Melora isn't canon in FR. And even if she were, she would have very little in common with Eilistraee, so I don't see why the presence of one should exclude that of the other (also, Eilistraee isn't even part of the Seldarine). Besides, it has been hinted that Eilistraee is...

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

You're welcome. I'm just happy that this matter could be clarified.

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

Ok, I brought myself to ask Ed, and this is the answer: Since I'm still some dude saying stuff over the internet, here's a SS: Now we also know the reason of the agreement, and I think that it was a clever move on Ed's side to ask for that. Furthermore, given this and that WotC doesn't seem...

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

Ed is truly kind, he always tries to give answers when he can. As far as I can see, a ''yes'' or ''no'' would suffice (asking if what THO said is true or not) because she was really clear in saying when Ed's word is canon and when it no longer is.

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

Yeah, there are really many ways to contact Ed, or other authors, if you want to.

I see. As I said, if you don't want to use social media, you could make an account over Candlekeep and ask here: http://forum.candlekeep.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=19841&whichpage=1. THO will be the one to deliver you Ed's word (even if she hasn't been online for more than 1 month now, so you may...

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

Not really. I said that it isn't what you're looking for, but it is indeed interesting that this whole fact has been discussed publicly by Ed and TSR employees. So (as I said) I linked the reply because I thought that it was something of interest.

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

Even if the post said which GenCon, it wouldn't be really useful, since it goes back to when TSR was still a thing. I doubt that they recorded seminars and put them online back them. I'm not keen on asking Ed personally, because I'd feel bad to doubt a friend that he trusts to speak for him...

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

@Alzrius I tried to search over the internt for a more offcial post, but I just found other people claiming the same thing. However, according to this post: http://forum.candlekeep.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12185&whichpage=1#257750 the contract and its terms were explained at a GenCon seminar by Ed...

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

Well, leaving the contract aside, consider someone pretending to speak on Ed's behalf, delivering literally thousands of replies to people and saying that those directly come from Ed, doing that for more than 11 years, with a lot of people --including other Forgotten Realms authors, who work...

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

@Alzrius I think we're speaking past each other (and have been repeating the same concept). THO has been Ed's voice for 11+ years, so she was believed and wasn't asked for proof when she talked about Ed's agreement with TSR. People can obviously doubt that, currently lacking any publicly shared...

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

She said the conditions under which what Ed says is canon. She speaks on Ed's behalf (and has been doing that for 11+ years now) and is really close to him, that's why she is trusted. Of course you have all rights to doubt that, but then at this point we're just running circles, as only Ed can...

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

She paraphrased the contract text, but she wasn't shady or generic about it, she was quite specific about how what Ed says is canon.

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

Yeah, ultimately the IP holder has the last word on the setting, I've never questioned that. But the world is so vast and deep that it is basically impossible for the publisher to cover it all, so Ed's word comes as an official source to what hasn't been covered/explained yet (until/unless WotC...

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

I agree that the various details haven't been hammered by WotC, but the major stuff? Erin Evans said in her ''questions for'' thread over Candlekeep that WotC RPG department has a rather strict control on how the world looks like. This means that stuff like the state of Halruaa, or which deities...

Not if you post the link to the answer. Sorry, it's just that it's a very small passage in the book, with little to no relevance to the story, but I will put the spoilers tag Actually, they did just that. They held meetings discussing how the world would look after the Sundering, with Ed...
