    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

if/when you do, could you post it here? In his novel (Spellstorm) it is implied that Eilistraee is alive, somehow, since Mystra is sharing the Weave with her. In Erin Evan's Sundering novel there are hints at Vhaeraun having a chosen. So, the question was about clarifying what happened to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

Yes, I see your point. I've pointed out where you could directly ask Ed (including his ''questions for'' thread over Candlekeep, even if the answer will be delivered by THO there, and even if she hasn't been posting for about 1 month now). On a side note about the particular answers that I...

    D&D 5E (2014) Forgotten Realms 5th Edition - Which Campaign Setting?

On Eilistraee and Vhaeraun, I made a post here: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?442389-5e-FR-Per-Ed-Greenwood-the-drow-deities-Eilistraee-and-Vhaeraun-are-alive-post-Sundering On Halruaa...

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

@Alzrius When answering, Ed always provide the canon answer if possible (i.e. he always does so unless hitting an NDA), so those answers --which concern matters discussed with WotC in the meetings about how the FR would have looked post Sundering, or clarify on products released by WotC-- are...

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

Sadly, Ed won't be able to attend Gen Con this year: This is an e-mail that all those who subscribed to his website received. Ijust wanted to point out that these info about Ed's word being canon are actually ''a thing'', so to speak, not something that a random poster on Enworld is babbling...

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

Alzrius Well, we have these threads (strating from http://forum.candlekeep.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1901 and ending with the current http://forum.candlekeep.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=19841&whichpage=1) which are questions posed to Ed Greenwood over 11 years, and all his answers have been delivered by...

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

@Alzrius Well, Ed trusts her to speak on his behalf, and she has done that for more than 10 years now (she has basically become his voice), this is quite enough for me (and for many others, including the admins of the FR wiki, since they accept Ed's answers as valid references for info contained...

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

Setting canonicity is not of concern only to the fans, it is of concern to the publishers as well because it establishes a continuity, which is rather important to a setting like the Forgotten Realms (or any setting with a storyline, really). If anything, setting canonicity is of more concern to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

To my understanding, he still can't say major things that WotC haven't agreed on. If you ask him for the details about how waterdhavian nobles party, then yes, but he won't say that -for example- a deity is back if WotC doesn't want said deity to be back. Erin Evans hinted in her ''questions...

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/excerpt-bone-devil in that excerpt from the MM it is said that Asmodeus has the power of a lesser god (wich is a huge jump from greater, since he's going to lose Azuth, probably in the next Erin Evans' novels, which is how he attained godhood in first...

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

It's part of the original agreement between Ed and TSR that what he writes or says about the Realms is canon unless contradicted by official published material. This agreement passed on to WotC. IIRC, it has been stated even in public, at some GenCon panels, and in discussions over the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

''[...]When she did so, she came under Bel’s compulsion, and through their hostile meeting of minds saw that Asmodeus had forewarned and prepared Bel to deal with her, so as to establish firm control over her—imprisoning her in her kingdom in Avernus, so that she “doesn’t get above herself” and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Asmodeus in 5E Faerun

WotC pretty much spoilered Erin Evans' novels line by hinting that Asmodeus won't be a proper deity anymore (It is explictly said in the MM, AFAIK).

D&D 5E (2014) Life Without "the Gods" or Playing D&D without the DDG.

The Weave isn't exactly the best example IMHO. In the Realms the Weave basically is Mystra, their existences are deeply entwined and the characteristics of the goddess of magic and the properties of the Weave are also related. That is unless you are taking the Weave without Mystra, but then it...

D&D 5E (2014) Life Without "the Gods" or Playing D&D without the DDG.

Yeah, assuming that divine casters draw their power from concepts or forces is a quick way to make them work in a godless D&D setting.

D&D 5E (2014) Crystal Ball: A year in, how do you think 5E will unfold going forward?

The math used in the various systems is just adding/subtracting numbers, really, you just need patience to read the books and options in order to play it, you don't even need to have a fairly good grasp of mathematics... RPing and crafting characters to a satisfying degree requires creativity...

D&D 5E (2014) Crystal Ball: A year in, how do you think 5E will unfold going forward?

Or those who simply don't want to do that. Believe it or not, there are people who are not interested in some ''evil guys of evil do evil stuff, because evil'' story (or who just don't enjoy using premade adventures).

D&D 5E (2014) Crystal Ball: A year in, how do you think 5E will unfold going forward?

Ed Greenwood's and Erin Evans' novels too (Salvatore's novels are mostly self-contained AFAIK). Ed in particular is doing his best to include bits of updated lore about the fate of some of the most popular characters/deities, while giving additional info on the setting in general. Believe it or...

D&D 5E (2014) I think WotC has it backwards (re: story arcs)

They need that approach because they want all the focus and hype to be on a given, defined storyline, so that they can do all their new multiplatform thingy with the MMO and the other stuff. Yes, they could also do that with the approach you are proposing, but I think that emphasizing the story...
