    White Dwarf Reflections #14

I dimly recall the maelephant from reading Planescape, but I think the only time I've encountered one in an actual game was the Blood Wars CCG, where many decks included at least a couple of copies of their card. IIRC they were basically a counterspell effect, which made them quite popular...

    Project Sigil .

It's a digital microdot. You just need a better monitor. Certainly one way to get past the profanity filter. Whole lot of cussing going on there. The limericks are just filthy, too.

A daring new minimalist approach to posting, I see. :)

    White Dwarf Reflections #14

My homebrew elephant monster is way trippier. :)

    White Dwarf Reflections #14

This will be reprinted with minor changes in the Big Rubble boxed set pretty soon. In the long run, V&V's standout feature has to be the sheer number of adventures it got. FGU is still selling well over 50 supplements for the game, about 90% of which are adventures while the rest are villain...

Combating My Own Boredom as a Player

I'm only about 40% GM, but there are systems where I definitely feel bored as a player these days. My solution is to not to play them anymore. I've shifted to either: More narrative-focused games where there are more opportunities to do the kind of swashbuckling stuff without shafting over...

    Strange thread behavior?

I ran into this one myself the other day. For a while it was showing up as the first new post on the list, but only while I was logged out and then it would disappear when I logged in. Don't know if that helps any when it come sto figuring out was was going on or if it just adds to the confusion.

    D&D General Ships & spellcasters

You might go look at TSR Spelljammer for a variety of magic items (including a plethora of figureheads) that could be applicable to plain old wet-navy ships. The setting is, first and foremost, nautical adventures in space, and while the quirky physics involved will make many things useless...

    White Dwarf Reflections #13

The poor things (and the elemental princes) fit better in 4e's cosmology where players are more likely to stumble on them either on the Prime due to random gates and dimensional slippage, or in the Elemental Chaos itself, which isn't so innately deadly heroic tier die just from standing there...

    White Dwarf Reflections #13

It might be better read in serial format. I've only read it in one chunk via the board game, and it dragged in that format for me - and usually prefer longer fiction to short. At a guess, consistency? Molten is an adjective, while IIRC the others are all nouns. Certainly fire, steam, and...

    White Dwarf Reflections #13

Can't argue with that. Not the most interesting of issues, but at least we're done with Valley of Four Winds and the regular Traveller feature has begun.

Upcoming Superhero RPGs Coincidence or Zeitgeist

It appears we have yet another new contender on DTRPG in the form of D6 Forge Heroes Rising.

What Published Modules Have You Run or Played Multiple Times?

Sounds like it should be a game about a bunch of car-driving cats who've gotten loose on the freeway, no doubt inspired by those old Toonces skits on SNL.

What Published Modules Have You Run or Played Multiple Times?

I've both played and run (as multi-player rather than solo adventures) all of the old metagaming TFT microquests multiple times, with the exception of the two "treasure hunt" titles. They have serious replay value owing to multiple paths and randomization, like many solo-friendly adventures...

Upcoming Superhero RPGs Coincidence or Zeitgeist

Descent Freespace for me. I've still got it sitting on a shelf next to Freedom Force.

Do you buy new versions of TTRPG games when you haven't had time to play the older version sitting on your shelf?

No. I'd be more emphatic if the site's profanity blocker would let me. :) If a game didn't get played the first time around, I sure don't need a newer version of it collecting dust too. I might buy a new edition of something that saw (or is seeing) use, but that's really a case by case thing.

Updating my Sentinel Comics Resource Blog again

Been quite a while, but I've bestirred myself to post some thoughts on how to use villain teams in the game, which can be kind of tricky since they really crowd your budget for scene elements. Using Villain Teams Hmmm. I also seem to have skipped mentioning ten other posts between this and...

    Outgunned Superheroes

Ah, so it can stand alone? I was wondering about that, since I'm not overly interested in the core rulebook. Very few games that I'm willing to buy multiple hardcovers for any more, and even less soon no doubt.

What Genre Do You Wish Inaugurated TTRPGs?

Remember that for purposes of this thread, there's no pre-existing D&D to establish any kind of design norms that influence the hypothetical RPG taking its historical place, regardless of its genre. In addition, there's no reason to assume that a bunch of historical wargamers are going to drag...

    Rules for Romance in TTRPGs

Romance and sex are two separate things. It's nice when the two overlap, but far from universal in both real life and fiction. Whether you need actual mechanics for either is up for debate of course.
