    White Dwarf Reflections #23

The next (and last) of these treasure hunt games more than makes up for the early find here. Unicorn Gold's statue has never been found to this day, although several people have credible claims to having "solved" the clues in the adventure, found what they believe the real-world location is...

RPG Print News – Call of Cthulhu, MÖRK BORG, and More

Am I the only one who's starting to feel like the King In Yellow is as badly overused in Mythos gaming as the Joker is over in DC? I know, I know, lots of guises, interacts more with mere mortals than most of Cosmic Horror tier Mythos types, but I see that name and all I can think is "AGAIN?"...

TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

I can't remember the last time I saw there were new posts on this thread and didn't immediately think "NOW what did those lunatics do?" This latest example outbreak of nonsense seems relatively tame. Perhaps I'm getting jaded?

They're both aimed at a similar market and theme for sure. And of course Pandemonium! has the drawback of being quite difficult to buy these days.

RPG CROWDFUNDING NEWS – CBR+PNK, Defy the Gods, Book of Wyrms, and more

Still reads as Caber-Pink to me. Then again, our local Scottish Games festival is quite good about supporting LGBTQA+ folks, and once you've seen some guy hucking a rainbow-painted practice caber the image is hard to get out of your head.

Buying games to better enjoy live plays?

This sounds completely backward to me. I wouldn't watch an actual play for a system I didn't own, or at least know well enough I don't need to own it any more. The most an vid might do is convince me to buy a supplement - but that's hypothetical to date, never having happened yet.

New Tunnels & Trolls first look at UK Games Expo.

Again, this is an Alpha and we have no idea what advancement looks like. It better include Attribute improvement, but how fast it is we can't even guess yet. Sheer Luck is a Stat (something you spend for effects and goes up and down during play) in Alpha, but the format notation for a Standard...

New Tunnels & Trolls first look at UK Games Expo.

To quote myself from about five posts up: So not removed, changed. Too early to say whether that's for better or worse. Alpha version is fine within itself, but may not scale well when we see the full version. If you're dead set on Ken's T&T with no changes the Alpha document rightly points...

New Tunnels & Trolls first look at UK Games Expo.

My sole complaint with 3e is with the solitary supplement, which was bafflingly printed in pale gray on white. It's very close to unreadable for me under normal lighting because of that choice. Which is a real shame, because the content itself is great. Die pools rapidly grow far larger than...

PS238, may it rest in peace.

WotC 3% Of Hasbro's Workforce Laid Off

It feels like the time is ripe for an updated version of Fortress America, if anything. The xenophobic isolationist market is huge right now. How many are primer gray? :)

It's pretty darn good if you can find it. I think part of the range was up on DTRPG somewhere, but I remember it missing a supplement or two. Underappreciated little 90s gem with an 80s vibe.

New Tunnels & Trolls first look at UK Games Expo.

The third paragraph of the Alpha doc warns you flat out that this is a crippled placeholder of a char gen system that relies on random rolls, while the full version will be based on choices, include more kin, much more equipment, and long lists of spells (and presumably crafts) and monsters. So...

New Tunnels & Trolls first look at UK Games Expo.

Normal successes are on 4+, blessed rolls are on 3+, cursed are on 5+, which is a familiar to-hit spread for GW players. Instead of having a separate tier of wound rolls, you have to pause and look for doubles, triples, quads, etc. I managed two crit fails (triple ones) in initial rolls with...

New Tunnels & Trolls first look at UK Games Expo.

You'll be glad to know that the new system (at least from the Alpha, which is presumably missing a lot of options and stuff that will only come into play as PCs advance) definitely offers a lot more tactical choices during a fight and generally uses fewer dice (and Combat Adds aren't a thing at...

Alpha. It's out in the wild as well. I started a thread looking to discuss what other people thought about the mechanics from running a test combat, but no one's responded.

The fact that Atlas won't/can't put pdfs up for Pandemonium and its lone supplement is an absolute tragedy IMO. When it comes to freakish RPGs it's near the top of my list, easily up there with Over the Edge. Tabloid...eh, I can live without, and it's probably still easy to find if you're...

Tomb Raider RPG Cancelled For Creative Differences

Ugh. I don't remember even seeing a cover, but I wasn't looking for one either. That is indeed both disrespectful and intensely, almost willfully lazy.

Tomb Raider RPG Cancelled For Creative Differences

Also the 40K RPG Dark Heresy, oddly enough. Never the Inquisitor, always an expendable stooge. Objection! If nothing else, people remember Talespin, which was Disney's Golden Monkey with anthropomorphic Jungle Book animals. Close enough. :)

Good lordy. He gave himself that moniker, right? When the camera angle shifts about two minutes in and you get a better view of the studio - that's the moment this becomes solid gold. The silhouette's a nice touch too, wonder whose niece he recruited for that? And that final dedication just...
