Researchers discover a new color (no, not that one)

People do vary, as do paint manufacturers and their ideas of what color is what. I'm sure I could ID teal and turquoise, but aqua might get me. And everything goes out the window when you get to gaming paints with made-up names instead off "artist's colors" where there's a stronger consensus...

    High-quality systemless books [+]

I would call Lejentia truly system agnostic myself, at least outside of the Stanza pack. Mentioning them reminds me that there's also the "Catalyst" City Book series from FBI, which (unlike Lejentia) is still available. I didn't see them mentioned as yet, surprisingly.

Are there any submarine based RPGs?

If we're just talking about adventures (which isn't what the title says) then there's also The Bonin Horse, a Cyberpunk 2020 module from Atlas. As you'd expect it adds rules for subs and underwater action to the game, but it certainly isn't a game unto itself. Be a pretty strange CP campaign...

What are must read short stories?

Allamagoosa by Eric Frank Russell. 1955 humor piece about the excesses of military bureaucracy. Do not read the wiki page, it spoils the entire story. It's not only mildly amusing, it's got historical importance as an early Hugo award winner. Now that I think about it, several of Malcolm...

    High-quality systemless books [+]

It doesn't appear to be legally available online, and the few physical copies I could find are far too expensive. On a distantly related note, WotC's old (pre-Magic) Primal Order books were all systemless. Chessboards was probably the most useful for inspiration and odd ideas, but they're all...

    High-quality systemless books [+]

What about moving beyond the gaming industry for this? Stewart Cowley effectively wrote a sprawling and very usable scifi setting through the Terran Trade Authority and later Galactic Encounters books, and while there was eventually a short-lived and fairly obscure TTA RPG published it's easily...

Stars Campaign Fork - Do you use canon characters in your RPGs?

Nope. Star Wars is more of a setting for Traveller-style "wander around and make a few credits" play than anything for the people I've played with. The main story and metaplot don't get anywhere near the PCs, ever. Undoubtedly abnormal, but it's never been very interesting to me and I've only...

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

If they haven't learned from this incident, they're incapable of learning and won't last long anyway. I'm not a GG customer to begin with (as I said way back on page one of this thread) but nothing I know about them suggests they're foolish enough to stick a fork in the electrical outlet twice.

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

I see your point, but I have my doubts that GG seeing that the old KS backers finally get their money is actually going to help JG in any way. It's not like JG will be getting credit for this from those backers, and this has all acted as an excellent reminder of why JG wasn't a company anyone...

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

Well, the video does address my earlier concerns about how they were going to limit payments strictly to the old KS backers who hadn't been paid off as yet, so that's something. Certainly not something I'd have trusted JG to do themselves.

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

Frankly, the whole MAR Barker and Tekumel Foundation thing already broke me. The longer a cover-up goes on for the more impact it has when the truth comes out, at least to me. That wasn't an OSR thing either, just plain OS. The rot isn't confined to the OSR community at all.

Are there any submarine based RPGs?

Off topic, but I find it amusing that Savage Worlds' 50 Fathoms setting has absolutely nothing to do with submarines or even underwater adventuring despite its title suggesting otherwise. :)

How Will The New Tariffs Affect TTRPG Prices?

Agreed. Honestly, I won't be surprised if Washington tries to find a way to apply tariffs (or something very like them) to electronic media as well. It seems absurd, but too many politicians are looking at tariffs as a way to levy a de facto tax without calling it a tax, and that's very...

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

A question about Goodman's response/explanation: If JG has supposedly been offering refunds on their unfulfilled KS for years now, how many of those 965 (IIRC) backers have already gotten paid off and how many are still owed a debt? And what happens if GG's KS goes huge and generates so much...

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

Indeed it is, and worth every penny. It is very, very important not to accidentally confuse it with Haven, City of Violence though. :)

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

Is Goodman Games the company that does most of its own publishing right here in the US and was being put forward as a possible way for other companies to avoid potential tariffs for overseas printing? Or was it someone else and I'm misremembering who it was? The tariff threads have...

Goodman Games Revives Relationship With Anti-Semitic Publisher For New City State Kickstarter [UPDATED]

Ugly, ugly look for Goodman, although there's not much I can do to influence this other than say so. Never bought anything from them, and this sure isn't going to make me change that.

    White Dwarf Reflections #19

This is on par with wondering if that roleplaying fad was still a going concern to me. There's an entire gaming subculture around both PBM and PBEM games that many folks seem to be entirely unaware of. Go take a look at the indexes here for a hint of how much is out there. You'll find a lot...

Are there any submarine based RPGs?

Right? I would also accept a more retro game inspired by Voyage To the Bottom of the Sea. Irwin Allen still retains a certain schlocky charm. Yep. Third edition, apparently working with Gallant Knight Games of Tiny d6 fame (although it isn't using that engine AFAIK).
