    New Character Builder from WotC!

Nah, it's because the character data is getting housed on WotC servers, and giving every user the ability to consume infinite space on those servers is a bad plan. Paolo goes in to it a bit here. I wouldn't be overly shocked to see the character limit bump up a bit after the initial release.

    Visions of Avarice

The character builder isn't completely up to date right now (check again on the 16th). The version in the rules update / compendium is the correct one.

    Essentials are melee heavy

While this is pure speculation at this point, the fact that the slayer -- out of the box -- only gets bonuses to two weapon groups suggests to me that there's more weapon group support coming. I'm excited to see what support they'd lend to a bow slayer.

    Essentials Observations

Did you see Ambush Trick? Move Action | Effect: Move up to your speed and gain combat advantage against enemies within 5 that aren't adjacent to any of their allies. Stealth, schmealth. How 'bout permanent CA for the cost of a move action?

    July Errata is up

There is special crit damage for Magic Missiles. *shrug*

    Rules Interactions: Hybrids & Multiclassing

Alternatively, you're required to take an encounter/utility/daily from whatever class you swapped out the next time you're able. It's like leveling up a hybrid - you take your first encounter power from one class, and then you have to take an encounter power from your second class at third level.

    D&D 4E Worst Monsters in 4e

You aren't participating in the current run of Encounters. I'd like to introduce you to the Siltrunner Darters and Ragers, each capable of dropping a lowbie PC in a single hit.

Damage of two types but immunity to one

This recently came up for me, as well (in my case, Painful Oath versus a creature immune to Necrotic damage). Customer Service had a different response. So, the damage still happens, but one damage type gets removed.

D&D 4E How Badly Do Randomly Rolled Stats Affect 4E Math?

So... play it down a bit. The hard number represents a composite. Someone with an INT of 8 may be a complete numbskull that just happens to know absolutely every in-and-out of the history and methodology of Waterdhavian pottery crafting. A character with a DEX of 8 might be a clumsy oaf, but...

    Enough with the halos already!

Ooh! Does that mean psionic characters can knock people unconscious with headbutts?

D&D 5E (2014) Until end of next turn or attack

Fade Away specifies that you're invisible until you attack. So you're visible for the actual attack.

    Is Painful Oath Too Painful?

One was a SoC. The other (now both, I think) is an Ardent Champion. With a Jagged Weapon, an Ardent Champion crits on a 19-20 and when they roll doubles on the d20 attack dice. At level 16, they get a free basic attack once/round when they crit.

    Is Painful Oath Too Painful?

CharOPers? Nah. Jagged weapons and the "crit a lot" paragon path are just really attractive options for a class that gets two opportunities to crit a round. I just figure that frequent bonus crit damage needs to be factored in when comparing avengers to other strikers.

D&D 5E (2014) Until end of next turn or attack

Invisibility causes all enemies to grant combat advantage to you -- a perk you don't get if you become visible when you attack. Enemies can't take opportunity attacks against invisible targets. Invisible critters have total concealment, and so can make stealth checks to hide at the end of...

    Is Painful Oath Too Painful?

The paragon-tier avengers I've seen in play (all two of them) have been crit-happy monsters. When one out of four attacks results in max damage + an extra 2d12 brutal 2 + a free basic attack + 10 ongoing, it's hard for me to say "Yeah, they really needed that bonus damage feat." YMMV, of course.

    Is Painful Oath Too Painful?

The typical complaint from people looking at avengers is that they don't do enough damage. I disagree, but, hey, Painful Oath gives them a nice bump you'd be silly to pass up. :)

I'd allow the hide to be used as a major component for the enchant item ritual to create Nightmare Ward armor. Resist: 5 psychic Property: +2 to saving throws against charm, fear, and psychic effects

    Goliath Warden Build Help

I'd also recommend a few swaparounds. Take Form of Mountain's Thunder as your L5 Daily - it's a solid offensive AND defensive boost, and lets you further benefit from items and feats that give you bonuses while in a guardian form. I'd also encourage grabbing Weapon Expertise instead of...

    Goliath Warden Build Help

Hammers and CON wardens are great. With a post-racial 18, you'll be fine. I'd recommend a downgrade to a warhammer, though, and replace that proficiency slot with Sudden Roots. Brutal is nice, but slowing on an OA is better.
