    D&D 5E (2014) Magic Items in 5e... Lackluster?

Magic items in the DMG. Do they lack luster? Many do. Do they lack originality? Absolutely. Would a lynch mob have formed outside WotC's offices if they'd done anything different? You better believe it! ;)

Which of these would you like to see in 2015 from WotC?

Oh sure, and if I ever get the chance to DM I will. But I'd also like to see new adventure modules done in this mode as well. Paying extra for fancy (and unneeded IMO) packaging I can definitely do without. Hardbacks with full color interiors I will NOT buy! Not for adventures, anyway.

    D&D 5E (2014) Gem of Your Collection

A number of years ago I had to sell off 99% of my gaming stuff, which included things like an Aussie Superhero game (brain fart, can't remember the title offhand), but I managed to hang onto my copy of Hommlet/the Moathouse. So I'd have to say that's it for me. But I might have said that anyway...

    D&D 5E (2014) Those poor farmers!

This is starting to get out of hand. Perhaps I should have put smilies all over my posts? Look, I don't have any problem with what's there. But I would think that a fair number of people would have appreciated a line or two showing that the devs had thought things through. And a few lines of...

    D&D 5E (2014) Those poor farmers!

As stated, the rules for making money are for PCs only. So, according to the RAW, NPCs can never make money by owning land, a business, or whatever. Not that this is an actual complaint, mind you. As a home brewer from way back, I'm well aware of how easy it is to miss something simple like...

    D&D 5E (2014) Those poor farmers!

Also Innkeepers, Shopkeepers, and those who own a trading post or noble estate. According to the chart on page 127 of the DMG, not only do none of these people make any money from these, they actually have to pay for the privilege of running them! Ok, so I assumed that the text would clear...

    D&D 5E (2014) Tempted to come back

Ditto this, and some XP for Reelo. Also, WotC has just put out the old Greyhawk setting in PDF format, which you might want to take a look at. (Just hop to the front page and scroll down a bit.)

D&D 5E (2014) Anyone ever try a lord of the rings esque campaign?

If the PCs are smart they'll kick the old wizard in the shins until he agrees to call upon the Big Birds to fly them to Mt. Dooooommmmm!

    D&D 5E (2014) Good Smoke Rules?

And don't forget that if they're breathing in heavy/toxic smoke they're probably coughing their lungs out as well. Disadvantage on everything, at least, IMO.

    D&D 5E (2014) Traps and XP

This is something that has always bugged me about XP arguments. Surely, surviving a trap (if it was ment to kill you or not), ought to add to the character's EXPERIENCE? Especially if the character managed to defeat it in some way. (Disarm, destroy, avoid, etc.)

"Don't feed the trolls!" says Albert Einstein

I don't know. He came up with that E = MC squared thing. But, as every good science fiction fan knows, C = 1. ;)

Got All 3 Books? Which One's Your Favourite?

A toss up. I voted for the PHB because there isn't any game without it. (I don't consider the Basic Rules to be the 'real' game, even though it is.) Also, I've only skimmed the DMG, and haven't gotten very far into a full read yet. (Besides, its unlikely that I'll run a game anytime soon, if ever.)

    D&D 5E (2014) Rarity and Creating Scrolls

If the rarity of the scroll is the same as for a similar type of wonderous item, then absolutely not! If its lower, then ok.

D&D 5E (2014) What Are Your Favorite Parts of the New DMG?

Random tables, random tables, and more random tables! Few things get the old creative juices flowing like a bunch of random tables can. And, as others have said, lots of advice rather than rules. (Although there are areas where more examples would be helpful, especially for newer DMs.)

    D&D 5E (2014) DMG Preview: POISONS!

Very disappointed. Not a single real world poison to gauge them against. Also, where's the uber common stuff that everyone can get their hands on, like rat poison? And adding my grouse to the no specifics for duration on blades/in the air, as well.

D&D 5E (2014) The Wonkiness of Tool Proficiency

Absolutely! Female character picks a lock with a hairpin, and if searched, doesn't have any criminal equipment on her person. And, as ExploderWizard said, skills are what you learn. The rules, or at least the wording of them, aren't as good as they should have been. So, House Rule time!

    D&D 5E (2014) Implications of "Two Storylines Per Year...planned out to 2018"

The implications for me is that WotC aren't going to be getting any more of my money after the DMG comes out. Unless Umbran is right. I hate the hardcover/adventure path style.

D&D 5E (2014) I Am SO Over The "Rootless Vagabond" Archetype

Others have said most of what I was going to, especially about 1st level characters buying the farm (they just left), 'wasting' whatever background they had. I've also found that I usually get a better idea of what I want my characters to be like after playing them for a few sessions, if not...

D&D 5E (2014) Published Adventures: Yea or Nay?

This. Couldn't have said it better myself.
