5 Lessons for DMs from the LOST Series Bible

The show was supposed to go five seasons, but wasn't renewed for the fifth until after the fourth season was finished. So JMS had to end it a year early. But he said that he'd tied up 90% of the loose ends, leaving the other 10% unfinished in case something happened where he could do so. And it...

    D&D 5E (2014) Kender are a core race?

Well, I'll still buy it, but I doubt that I'll ever play it. I swore, even before they became an official race (when they were previewed in Dragon) that if any character of mine ever saw a Kender, he'd kill it on sight. And I still hold to that promise I made to myself.

5 Lessons for DMs from the LOST Series Bible

3 Mystery! After watching the first half of the two hour pilot, I turned it off. I felt that the mystery of the unseen monster was physically impossible, and Lost was billed as a science fiction show, not a fantasy. Know your audience!

    D&D 5E (2014) Wandering Monsters: Rosemary's Baby

Traditionally (in real world myths) Succubi are demons, so I'm a little annoyed at the change. But only a very little. More annoying, as usual, are the way the poll answers are written. One of them I didn't even respond to because the bulk of the answer, after the yes/no part, wasn't something I...

    Yes. Sadly. ;)

    Is Earth a sphere?

Voted no, because its an oblate spheroid, as others have mentioned. But I was expecting more than a yes/no poll, or at least an explanation. So poor Bullgrit ought to have known that this crowd could take it either way without bothering to explain or mention which they'd chosen. One or the other...

    OotS 912

I have to say that Nale's dad has become my favorite character in the strip. He makes Evil look good!

    IN REMEMBRANCE--2013

He was also on the short-lived, but funny, When Things Were Rotten.

    Let's read the entire run

Where's 5/7? It didn't show up yesterday, and still hasn't. A glitch in the automatic posting system?

    If a kaiju really emerged

Well, I never bought the trope that Godzilla couldn't be killed by the armor piercing weapons and high powered high explosive rockets of the 50s, so I'm not buying that modern weapons would be useless. Of course, as Umbran mentioned above, it just ain't possible in the first place. And Jonesy...

how many classes is too many?

If you have to have classes, which you obviously don't, then three. Or four if you insist on dividing cleric and wizard, which I don't. After that everything else depends on multiclassing, feats, skills, and/or whatever you want to use to distinguish swashbucklers from sword and boarders...

Legends & Lore: Roleplaying in D&D Next

I disagree with the article's first sentence. D&D was not a role playing game from the first. It was an adventure game, with roleplaying as an option. (Yeah, yeah, semantics and all that...)

    Number of Years Gaming

I started in '78 or '79, but I haven't actually played for several years. I checked the 31-35 'box', but it may fall somewhere in the 26-30 range. But I'm still a gamer!

D&D and the influence of table-top RPGs

A decent look at the hobby for outsiders. What I especially liked about it was that it showed a wide variety of players, from kids, to costumed geeks, to 'normal' folk. ;)

    Lone Ranger

Didn't, won't. I just can't see this Indian wearing a crow on his head and a ton of war paint not being shot dead on sight by just about any white man who sees him. Poor Jay Silverheels must be rolling in his grave!

The 15 Best D&D Modules Of All Time

Ravenloft? I don't even consider that D&D! But then, I didn't vote, so I'll shut up about it now. :p Some interesting choices and omissions, but I expect everyone will say that. And, as others have said, the presentation was just terrible! You need to slow the next one down a lot! I wonder...

    The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh

Played this once, but never got around to buying it myself. As a GM I worry a bit that Ned might put newer players in the kill-everything-that-moves mode because of his betrayal. Even if it is a perfectly reasonable situation for the PCs to run into. That aside, great module! We tried...

    D&D 5E (2014) June 20 Q&A Legendary Creature Questions

Cyberen, just to make it clear, and I hope this is the end of it as other things deserve more forum time, I did say some people, not all of them. (Needless to say, I'm one of them.) While I haven't seen that particular HP debate, I have seen plenty of others where the same points are made, I'm...

    D&D 5E (2014) June 20 Q&A Legendary Creature Questions

I hate when sarcasm doesn't come through on the interwebs. The point I was trying to make was precisely that it takes away one of the things that some (a lot?) of people find fun in RPGs. I wasn't trying to prove anything, just making a point.
