Perkins' Map Sketch For CURSE OF STRAHD's Burgomaster's Mansion

We did: It's called Out of the Abyss. Also, I'm sure the Burgomaster is a perfectly nice guy who isn't a vampire. My rogue friend went to see him in private one day, and-- why, that man and his sense of humor-- he came out cheerier than ever! Yes, don't worry. Everything is just fine!

    D&D 5E (2014) Ravenloft= Meh

Ravenloft is the campy b-movie horror set of D&D. It uses classic horror tropes because they are immediately relatable and recognizable. It's near impossible to find someone who has never experienced at least one derivative of Bram Stoker's Dracula, so that greatly simplifies the setup. I'd also...

What sort of character will you build for Curse of Strahd?

Barbarian Vintner it is, then! "A meal without wine is like a day without sun." He doesn't know who said it, but they are words to live by.

What sort of character will you build for Curse of Strahd?

I just wanted to play a rogue baker. I mean a baker that happens to be a rogue, as opposed to a baker who has gone rogue. The lack of a rogue option makes me sad.

Sage Advice: Sneak Attacks, Breath Weapons, and Magic Weapons

It all comes down to D&D lore and the old-school inspirations for the monk class. In D&D, even perfectly ordinary things are magical, because magic suffuses reality and holds everything together like a law of physics. Even a dead magic zone still has magic in it. Back on topic, the presence of...

D&D 5E (2014) How to run Death House without killing your entire party

Actually, I'm interested in knowing how other GMs would resolve players attacking the floor boards. Particularly in the case of... ... the animated armor on the third floor. Do you think the wooden floor on the lower levels would be able to withstand the shock of a falling suit of full-plate or...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th Edition and the "true exotic" races ...

I will never get over the fact dragonborn do not have darkvision. Ever and forever :p And I also find it kind of ironic that the ONE non-standard race that makes the most sense to introduce into D&D was left out as a DMG side note: The Eladrin. Elves are supposed to have a fey ancestor, so they...

Check Out These Peeks At CURSE OF STRAHD

This is why all of my characters carry a measuring stick and a strip of marked leather. ... and its always marked in the fantasy cousin of the metric system. If anyone asks, the halflings invented it in their spare time :)

D&D 5E (2014) Ravenloft NPC reactions to the various PC races

I think it really came down to how social disadvantages were being modeled in 3rd edition. I'd probably advise a more qualitative approach as opposed to quantifying prejudice and racism as a penalty. There would be a severity level (low, medium, high) that can be reduced with diplomacy and good...

D&D 5E (2014) Could SCAG be power creep?

I own a copy of the book. Rest assured: It does not contain any power creep. It's a very options-light book, and the way 5th edition does character options make it very difficult to design any new options for an existing class that would unbalance it in a significant, game-halting way.

CURSE OF STRAHD: Here's The Official Announcement & Cover Image!

I love the fact they're bringing Ravenloft back into play, but I think I'll pass on the adventure league if its going to take fourteen adventures to reach 8th level. It sounds far too drawn out, to be honest.

The Official 2016 Anticipated RPGs Poll!

The three that immediately jumped out at me were "Project: Dark," "Interface Zero: Fate Edition," and "The Witcher Roleplaying Game." I'm a big fan of the Interface Zero 2.0 book for Savage Worlds and in honesty it is the best written cyberpunk setting currently available. Its only competitor...

Your most anticipated games of 2016?

"The Witcher Roleplaying Game" by R Talsorian Games is what I'm looking forward to in a few months. I feel The Witcher setting will provide a breath of fresh air from the typical Tolkien based fantasy settings. It will also get players to think outside the D&D box.

A Life Jacket For PATHFINDER ONLINE?

I'm not entirely sure why any company would take up the mantle of continuing Pathfinder Online. Unlike FFXIV, there isn't anything to salvage.

    What's the best (non-Star Wars) sci-fi system/setting for fans of D&D 5e?

If you want cyberpunk, the best of the best right now is the new Interface Zero 2.0 setting for Savage Worlds. They are working on ports to Pathfinder and the Fate system. I'd love to see a 5th edition version just to see its popularity spike. It even has rules for building mechs! Out of the...

What's All This About Third Party 5E Stuff?

Plus, even if it were possible to revoke the OGL, it would be self-destructive. The reason D&D is so popular is because of the availability of content for it. Even if they want to keep the core rules constrained to avoid the problems of 3rd edition, they still benefit from having additional...
