    Why all the fiendish love?

But but but no, that is not my position. I don't believe that tieflings, as written, are only cool to 14-year-olds. I believe that tieflings, as currently conceived, are less compelling to 14-year-olds, or anyone, than just about any other monstrous badass option out there. Does your inner...

    Warlock?

Yeah, another thing I've said before (cue trumpets) is that Warlock+Binder+ritual magic is what I think of by default when I think of "fantasy mage", much, much more so than D&D's wizard class, so if they implemented even two out of three of those I'd be very very happy. Even if wracked by...

    Warlock?

I've said it elsewhere, I'll say it here, they need to change the name of either the Warlock or the Warlord, because it's just going to lead to unnecessary confusion when skimming through stat blocks, etc., etc. I'm serious. It's going to be a headache.

    Why all the fiendish love?

Ok to be slightly serious for a second here, the whole thematic idea of having an inborn demonic side is to throw the very human morality vs. temptation dynamic into stark relief. The problem with tieflings is that, both mechanically and flavorwise, they do this less well than any other...

    Why all the fiendish love?

Hey buddy at least I've got a fly speed, poison, and DR that's useful against mobs of pitchfork-and-torch-wielding peasants. I ain't got nothin' to say to those tiefling poseurs until they can at least upgrade to Rosemary's Baby. :D

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

Binders seem an obvious fit, though I am unsure of their power level in E6. Weakish? I am not sure how to make piles of epic feats work for an E6 binder. OTOH, a) they can pull 4th-level vestiges with Improved Binding, and a couple of those are pretty mean, and b) the Bind Vestige/ Improved...

    Why all the fiendish love?

Damn skippy it's a taste issue, though maybe they'll fix it. Tieflings are cheesy! Is there a less menacing quasi-human D&D race out there? Aranea are scarier. Half-orcs can hit you hard, at least. Oooh, I have horns, a whiff of brimstone, and am sort of impervious to the elements! Great...

E6? Is it your cup of tea?

You could include a by-the-book lich in an E6 game, he's just going to be Sauron basically, and to bring him down you'd have to find some plot-type method that doesn't involve letting him get to roll initiative against you. One feature of the E6 concept is that some entities may exist that are...

    In Celebration of Randomosity!

Wow, those are some really good rolls (the sword and the plate, at least)... how many PCs were there? Also, I completely forgot about Appendix D. That was excellent. :D

Is the Warlock going to kill the sorcerer and take his stuff?

Admittedly, it is a better argument for changing the Warlord's name to something else, but there seems to be a shortage of good ideas on that score, while there's tons of names out there for magician-types.

Is the Warlock going to kill the sorcerer and take his stuff?

You know, the warlock should probably take the sorcerer's name too. What I mean is: "I've got a Wizard 2/ Warlock 3/ Warlord 4." "Wait, is that a Wizard 2/ Warlord 3/ Warlock 4?" "No it's a Wizard 3/ Warlord 2/ Warlord 4." "What?" "No, wait, let me check my sheet again." I mean, that one...

    Every Edition Has Its Setting

Well, a 3e fighter is maybe a little better off than a 1e fighter naked – it depends on what you send 'em against, if the fighter's built for it, and since CR is out the window it's totally subjective. In 3e everything will hit you harder. Other classes can handle it much much better in 3e of...

    Every Edition Has Its Setting

I don't believe that is necessarily true. There are certain cases, of course, monsters requiring a +x weapon to hit, etc, but it's not as built into the system, the attack bonuses, AC, etc. I would say that a 10th level AD&D character is going to be a lot richer and more item-heavy than a 10th...

    Double Weapons: Scrap or keep?

I am fine with double weapons and exotic weapons, though I hope the latter are overhauled so they get to distinguish themselves more. I mean, I remember being 12 and making up metal implements of death! The dire flail and spiked chain went too far; a lot of the other ones, not nearly far...

Help me sell E6 Eberron to my players

Raising the Stakes? I saw it earlier, it looks cool, but I haven't had a chance to play with it yet.

    [E6 Class] Dervish

Are you using splatbook feats at all? Because, Oversized TWF; and it's perfectly possible to imagine a variant dervish-type that uses, for example, flails, or just a plain ol' quarterstaff. What about a Master TWF feat at 6th level that eliminates the -2/-2 penalty entirely?

Help me sell E6 Eberron to my players

That is a pretty interesting variant of E6 you have working there. I could see building sort of a cheap early 3.75E out of it, if you move the start level back to 3rd. People, stop coming up with interesting variants! Aaaaugh.

    No Druid in PHB?

    - it sure would be nice if the cleric class was a lot more flexible in its workings, its relationships to its deities, its granted powers. As it is they are all healers, diviners, and boost-thumpers with domains. If that were implemented, the cleric could subsume the druid, possibly. In 3.5 I...

Then you can have the Paraelemental Plane of Top Quarks. Try visualizing that, mister big DM hotshot man!

D&D 4E Is 4E winning you or losing you?

Completely neutral. Look, I can't possibly know if I'd like it until I see it. Who can tell?
