    PHBII obvious error?

Ah, that's what I get for trying to answer questions without taking a look in the book. I assumed that the first two feats were Point Blank Shot, and it looks like I assumed wrong. In that case, I have no idea what the sixth level feat should be, but Particle_Man's suggestion sounds pretty...

    PHBII obvious error?

Precise shot would be the obvious follow up; you've got a bonus to hit and damage on your ranged touch spells, now you can cast into melee without a huge penalty. ETA: Or your Eldrich Blast, now that I notice the question is for a warlock.

What RPG product(s) of 2007 are you looking forward to?

The new Lone Wolf Gamebooks (dude, first I heard of it, but that is very cool). Expedition to Greyhawk (I grew up on the Greyhawk setting, and I have a great admiration for the authors of this) Forge of War (my next Eberron game will be starting during the Last War) The Complete books (If the...

Does your gaming take a hit because of the holidays?

Not too bad. One of my players is the new guy at his work, so he's covering a lot of shifts. He worked Thursday morning, then was heading back to work Thursday night at 8, so I just called my Pendragon game. It will probably also skip next week for similiar issues. My Wednesday Age of Worms...

AC 56 at level 6! You too can do it!

This thread is making me see the value of having a firm hand when DMing. "And then I Alter Self into a Dwarf Ancestor for the +18..." *Smack* Or, to quote from one of my friends on an unrelated, but appropriate matter, "Yes, but how would we carry that massive wheel of cheese?"

    Erik Mona's Lo-Fi Experience System

Ya know, I kinda like multiplying and adding, and doing it twice if I there's a level disparity. I do find your way intriguing, though. And I've bookmarked your blog. Been meaning to do that anyway.

The Temple of Elemental Evil - your experiences?

After having owned the module since the days of 2nd Edition, I finally ran it and finished it up earlier this year, having run it as a mostly on-the-fly conversion to 3.5 (early on was easy, a bugbear is a bugbear, those 0-level bandits are 1st level warriors, their fighter leader probably has a...

    I've turned around on Downer

It's not something you can read just one comic and fall for, I think. I decided I liked it when I started preping my AoW game- I was reading through the adventures, and I needed a little distraction before going on to the next. As I read more, and went to my back issues to fill in gaps, the...

Improved Unarmed Strike and 2H weapons

And a character with just one feat (EWP Spiked Chain) can do the same, without taking any penalties. With that in mind, I have no problems with someone using a reach weapon who also has Improved Unarmed Strike to threaten at 10ft and 5ft with no penalty.

What do you use the Leadership Feat For?

I have a 6th level expert that accompanies the party as a guide/sage. A 5th level Warforged warrior functions as my bodyguard- more flavor than an expectation that he'll save my life. Some of the other high level follower slots are filled with crossbowmen- they can keep out of direct danger...

What do you use the Leadership Feat For?

I think I'm the only one in my group to use it, and both times I've used it to support my character. First time was a Warforged Paladin, who gained an Artificer cohort. Now, instead of sucking up the party healing resources at 2 for 1, I had someone who was very apt at repairing me, as well as...

Is mounted combat just a waste of time?

Whether Mounted Combat is worth the feats depends on the game. My Age of Worms game has seen a lot of dungeons, so the paladin has found Charging Smite (from PHB2) to be preferable to getting a mount. My Savage Tides game has also seen a lot of underground, and they've been stuck on a ship for...

    Warblade/Barbarian problems

Already asked and answered back in September: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ask/20060913a Using manuevers is fine, recovering runs into the concentration and patience downside of rage.

    Black Puddings and Item Damage

The thread about Disjunction got me thinking about another item destroyer, that just happens to be featured in two of the adventures I'll be running soon.: the Black Pudding. That sure sounds like a save or destroyed roll. I'm pretty sure it is the item making the roll, since it is the...

    Damage Reduction

The word after the slash is what you need to use to get through the damage reduction. DR 5/Magic means you need a magic weapon to get through (damage reduction never applies to spells unless the description specificly makes mention- energy resistances and spell resistance are what counter...

New listings on the WotC 2007 product page!

So that's Erik's project, along with James and Jason. Seems so obvious. I think I can find room on my shelf for it. Complete Champion also has a spot, if it's anywhere as nifty as Complete Mage. The Forge of War- dude. I had been making plans to start my next Eberron game during the Last...

New "What sort of RPG player are you?" poll (this one by Charles Ryan)

You scored as Character Player. The Character Player enjoys creating in-depth characters with distinct and rich personalities. He identifies closely with his characters, feeling detached from the game if he doesn’t. He takes creative pride in exploring different characters, often making...

What was the fate of Obould Many-Arrows?

I remember being very frustrated at the end of the last book. There just didn't seem to be any resolution. This could have been the perfect time to bring an end to Drizzt's legend; faced with an invincible foe, the amazing drow finally meets his match. But no. I really don't remember a whole...

How long did this session take?

I went with seven hours, was leaning toward eight. Looking again at the levels, it's probably less than that; the two campaigns I've run most recently have higher level characters, and when they go full buff, that can take an hour right there. Lower level characters have fewer options, so I...

    Half-ogre Str. Bonus.

I think I know what article that is. It also has a half-minotaur template, which is an ECL +1, that gives a big increase to Str and Con, and says to boost size to Large if base creature is medium, giving the ability increases for increased size. My friend made such a character, a fighter that...
