    New Article: Death and Dying

Thanks for pointing it out. Sounds very workable. And I appreciate that we get a "Play 4E Now" sidebar. I might have to give this a try at my next session.

D&D 4E What will you do first with the 4E PHB?

Smell it. Seriously. I love the smell of new books. The DMG and MM will be arriving in the same box, so I'll probably open those up and take a sniff, just so I can be sure no one else gets the first scent. After that, I'll probably flip through to see the pretty pictures, then start reading...

in 1st Edition...did you...assume that Corellon Larethian put out Gruumsh's eye?

Didn't have to assume. Just because Gygax got the details of that encounter wrong doesn't mean it didn't happen. Look it up. Any reputable history book will tell you that Gruumsh had two eyes right up until CL shot one out. :) -> ;)

    Necro is IN! Planned Products

 That is pretty good. You should be able to take a glance at it once your check clears. I'll be keeping an eye out for this. Although I'm starting fresh with 4E, I like having lots of options for my players, and I've always been pleased with Ari's work.

"in 1st Edition...every DM...assumed that Corellon Larethian put out Gruumsh's eye"?

That one struck me as particularly apt. My first time playing Exalted, one character was an Exalted blacksmith. A good portion of the day was spent with him making Craft checks to forge weapons for an army (an army we weren't affiliated with) while the rest of us waited around. Frequent use of...

    Critical Hits: What's Best?

This also reminds me of Mearls' encounter building article. It was okay to put higher level creatures in a dungeon, because without save or die effects, and apparently lower damage spikes, the party has a chance to run if it looks like they're in over their heads. Right now, party enters a lair...

D&D 5E (2014) Critical Hits Appears to be Next in D&D Archive

First, pull out your d1000... Yes, 3d10. I don't remember exactly, but that roll determines location. Then iirc, it's an exploding d8 for crit severity. Cross reference severity and location on the chart for weapon type to find your result, from boring damage multiplication to broken bones...

New Dragon Article: Ecology of the Fire Archon

Guardian Angels? I'll bite. What does Archon mean? What out of its various meanings make it a better fit for a race of good-aligned outsiders than elemental warriors?

New Dragon Article: Ecology of the Fire Archon

How about "angel"? Or maybe "deva"? A quick flip through the dictionary shows either of those as more appropriate than "archon", which means "game played with multiple monsters on a modified chess board".

    D&D 4E 4e previews due in December

Thank you. Words like "cancelled", besides being inaccurate, seem to add an unnecesarry amount of emotion to the discussion. Also, this? seems like a pretty rotten thing to do to Paizo. "Hey, that magazine contract we just renewed? Well, we're announcing 4E, so expect your sales to tank in...

    The Ripoff Thread

Draenei- sheesh, first time I saw them in WoW (particularly the females), I swore they were a rip-off of tieflings, which I remembered seeing in Planescape books back in the 90s. And that whole other-plane thing, and the demonic background elements? yeah... ...I'm doing this wrong, aren't I?

    D&D 4E 4e previews due in December

When did they do this? I know things have been slow with the holiday, but I thought they had more articles and adventures coming out soon. I'll be a bit miffed if I don't get a Dragon 361 PDF to stick next to my 360 PDF.

Holiday Present - The Elf PHB entry

Oh, yes! No more having to justify why the 126 year old elf has fewer skill points than the 15 year old human :D

THREE elven races, plus half-elves ... but they say gnomes have no niche?!

Cool art. However, only the one I quoted really says "gnome" to me. The rest, if you had told me they were halflings, I'd never have known different. :D I would posrep you if I could.

Opinions on the "Full-Time Wizard" articles

If you're complaining about the lack of content in it, that seems at odd with your claim. But, carry on.

    GENCON 2008 - Who's Going?

Right now, I'm planning on it. This year was supposed to be the delayed honeymoon for me and my wife, but things didn't work out. Hopefully 2008 goes better.

    New Confessions (Character creation)

New Confessions of a Full Time Wizard is here: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/drcw/20071214&authentic=true No mechanics, but we do get some insight into the character creation process: point buy, racial abilities, spells, and feats.

    Dungeons, Dragons, and Demographics

Beat me to it. Also, there's a substantial percent of the board who doesn't care one way or the other, as they just don't play D&D.

Any WotC feats to allow Bull Rush as part of an attack?

Also, Dungeonscape has an alternate class ability for Fighters that allow them to do damage if they bullrush a foe into a wall.
