D&D 4E Desert of Desolation Minis... 4E preview thoughts

From my case, the only rare we had in common was the Fire Archon (and I'm pretty sure I didn't have any double rares). I can't say I'm dissatisfied with what I pulled, although the Troll , the Cube, and the Umber Hulk were the ones I was most interested in.

    DRAGON #360 Art Gallery: Dryad

Considering some of the gamers I've seen, I must heartily disagree.

Greg Bilsland: Prophecy of the Priestess Part IV

I would think in a playtest it's better to follow the DM's script, even if it is a bit railroady. After all, it's a little hard to test how the game works if the DM is running off the cuff.

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Campaign Setting Hardcover!!!

I didn't think I was getting old, but $50 did make me slam on the brakes. But, I've got a nice long time before I have to worry about it.

    Michele Carter's Big Playtest Post!

And the mystery race continues to be kept secret. Also, apparently non-infernal warlocks.

How Come There Is No "Wish" Spell?

Wish has needed to go ever since Dragon Kings brought out 10th level spells. "Wish- the ultimate spell, except, not anymore." With 4E changing around spell levels, where would it even land? Too often, it became a game of trying to outwit the DM by wishing for something that couldn't be twisted...

    D&D 4E Legacy Weapons Match 4e

Be interesting to see something like this. As is, D&D makes it hard to hold on to your father's ancestral blade, because it just can't compare with the +3 Flaming Sword you found in the dragon's lair. As I recall, you could put all sorts of bonuses into a legacy weapon- sure, there were the...

Eight is Enough: How Many Classes?

Kind of like how many months have 28 days- they all do, just most have more. I'm betting they were working with 8 at the time of Logan's statement- 2 per role- and they've adjusted things since then; I seem to recall reading that the Warlock wasn't originally going to make it in the first book...

The needed monster that's never appeared in the MM1 -- or at all, in some editions

Oh, a sea serpent would be a great creature for core. Sorry, I thought, besides bemoaning the lack of a sea serpent, I thought you were also asking for suggestions on something to fill the role. And yes, it is a cool beastie.

The needed monster that's never appeared in the MM1 -- or at all, in some editions

Check out the bestiary in Pathfinder 3: there's a creature called the Mother of Oblivion. It's a gargantuan outsider that looks like a sea serpent mixed with an octopus. Bite, four tentacle, improved grab and constrict. There is some spell-like stuff that goes with it's outsider nature, but...

D&D 4E On the set of 4E: the Beholder

I would think that Solo doesn't mean "Monster= 4+Level" or whatever. Rather, I'd think solo denotes a monster able to use several actions in a round- like the dragon from the encounter example. As it is now in 3.5, lone monsters are always always always at a disadvantage against a party because...

D&D 4E On the set of 4E: the Beholder

I laughed. So, sounds like we will still have party vs. single monster, but it won't be a case of 4 standards actions to 1.

have 3rd parties gotten the srd yet?

I'm struck with this image of the Paizo staffers going trick or treating at WotC tomorrow, dressed up like warlocks and warlords and warmages and WAR covers, holding open their pillowcases for pages from the rule book. Erik: I got encounter designs! Mike: I got Classes! Dang, no ninja. James...

Which of the H, L, N & S series adventures have you played or ran?

Against the Cult of the Reptile God was the first RPG item that I bought, and the first module I attempted to DM. I was 8 at the time, and DMing for my younger brother, so it didn't go so well. I've since run it more successfully in 1E, 2E, and 3E.

    So...this is the new Ettercap?:(

That's for the D&D miniatures crowd. There's already been a Troll figure (back in Harbinger). When they made a new troll, they couldn't just call it a Troll again, so they called it a Troll Slasher (Troll 2 is pretty boring). Now they're releasing a new troll, the 4E version, so they had to call...

Which of the A, C, D, G or Q modules have you played or ran?

Just the Giants for me, in a 1E/2E hybrid. I had planned on doing the whole GDQ set converted to 3.5 to follow up my on-the-fly conversion of TOEE, but that game ground to a halt.

There is supposed to be one more adventure up, by Nicolas Logue. Might see that early next week, just before November starts.

    Let Warlord be Warlord

Well, when I hear "Warlord", I think this guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warlord_%28comics%29 So, I'd say it's a pretty heroic and positive title.

Desert of Desolation Gallery is up!!

It passes my main test- I don't think there were any Rares I'd be unhappy to get (my first pack of.. Unhallowed, I think, had a Devourer as the rare. That was a let down).
