TSR Wizards of the Coast Requests Injunction Against NuTSR

So then the question is when did Don get the manuscript that he gave to WotC's lawyers. Was it before or after Lanasa's claim that the black subrace rules were fake? And did he get straight from Lanasa?

TSR Wizards of the Coast Requests Injunction Against NuTSR

Just to be clear, do WotC's lawyers really have the current playtest document and the excerpts included in these legal filings are from the current playtest document that Lanasa is distributing to current playtesters? I ask because after the manuscript was leaked a few months ago and the racism...

    D&D 5E (2014) Saving throws in 5e

Is the issue that there are six saves or is it that only half are used? If all six were used roughly equally would that be okay?

    All Aboard the Invisible Railroad!

An example from one of my games would be a time that a player learned that some NPCs who had ties to his PC had been captured by a band of hobgoblins and bugbears. I had planned for the entire party to respond, and so there were enough opponents for multiple battles involving the whole party...

They're playtesting the game  after the layout is done??? That makes no sense. Anyway, if the books aren't being printed right now there's no way they will be available by July 21 unless they do POD.

Remind me, what stage was the book supposed to be in the last time they said something about it? Was it in layout?

    WotC WotC blacklist. Discussion

Any table top game that humans are capable of playing on their own without a computer is trivially easy for a computer from the last 30+ years to handle. If a particular mechanic or measurement system is slow on a computer from 2008 then it would be impossible for humans to use. Since 4e was...

WotC doesn't have legal rights for the mechanic but for the term "tapping". Anyone can make a game that includes a mechanic where cards are turned to indicate they are being used, you just can't call that "tapping".

It's amazing that they can distinguish between what's appropriate for a 17-year old and what's appropriate for an 18-year old.

D&D General RPG Theory and D&D...and that WotC Survey

Even if most players wanted campaigns to last many years, for purely practical reasons it's very hard to maintain a group for that long which means it couldn't possibly have been the norm.

How do you know that older gamers significantly deviate from this pattern? Have you done a comprehensive and representative study of older gamers?

Can someone tell me about this "museum"? Why is it in a house- is there something historically significant about the house or is it just a random one? Has the entire house been turned into a museum or does someone live in it? What stuff is in there that makes it a museum?

D&D 5E (2014) What a small industry 5e publishing really is, and WOTC are thieves.

You don't have to price your Kindle books at .99 cents, you get 70% royalties if the price is between $2.99 and $9.99. And you don't have to enroll in Kindle Select, that's entirely optional and there is no penalty for not enrolling (and it's really weird to criticize Amazon for not giving...

    D&D 5E (2014) Best and Worst of 5e - every book rated

One of the annoying things about the reviews of D&D products on Amazon is that every single 5e book is rated 4.9, 4.8, or 4.7 which doesn't really tell you their relative quality. A few weeks ago JEB very helpfully posted a list that included the reviews from Goodreads. I noticed that those...

The book Impro by Keith Johnstone is an absolutely superb intro to improv and extremely useful for GM's and roleplayers.

D&D 5E (2014) Amazon best and worst sellers for 5e so far

The sales ranking is purely determined by number of units sold. While the algorithm rewards consistency of sales over a short term spike, it heavily weights recent sales so think of the ranking as how well the product has done over the last week or two.

DriveThru and other POD shops are printers, not publishers. A vanity press is a type of publisher where the writer pays the publisher to edit, layout, create the cover, etc where a traditional publisher only pays the writer, they never require the writer to pay them to produce the book.
