    D&D 5E (2014) Has D&D Combat Always Been Slow?

Do you use a grid and minis? I think that plays a significant part in making combats take longer.

Dragonlance Dragonlance's Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman Are Suing WotC for Breach of Contract

They are paying WOTC in order to be allowed to make these novels so if WOTC won't let them proceed but won't formally end the contract either then they will have lost money. That is why they are suing, plus the fact that they have a contract with Random House they now won't be able to fulfil...

D&D 5E (2014) A brief rant about Rime of the Frost Maiden, farming, logistics, and ecology

Ok, except you said that "Anyone who wants to get all tangled up based on a single line of fluff text is probably having less fun than me" which clearly indicates that you think your attitude towards the adventure is superior to those who have problem with this particular issue. If people would...

D&D 5E (2014) A brief rant about Rime of the Frost Maiden, farming, logistics, and ecology

What about the survival of the animal life? Is it legitimate to criticize the adventure regarding this?

D&D 5E (2014) What to do about Hypnotic Pattern?

How does casting the spell on the players fix the problem of the player using the spell all the time?

D&D 5E (2014) Iggwilv/Tasha To Join Volo, Xanathar, and Mordenkainen? [UPDATED!]

Here's the relevant bit: Fans will also get the chance to preview some content from Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything, the forthcoming book featuring massive rules options, subclasses, and more for the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons.

    D&D 5E (2014) Charm Person After Effect

I think the example is just to clarify how exactly the spell works, not to show how it can be used. The two examples should be read together and they make clear that the target doesn't inherently know who cast the spell. That helps players know what to expect and it helps DMs adjudicate it.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E's poor book bindings

Casebound used to be standard for hardcover books, it's not some super-expensive luxury. Also, costs for offset printing are heavily determined by the number of books printed. 5e is printing huge numbers of each book which dramatically reduces costs. WOTC could easily do casebound and still make...

Level Up (A5E) Where to put ability bonuses during character creation

I prefer a split between class and species/culture/background like 13th Age does it. That opens up more variety of class and race combos that people will play.

Critical Role Why Critical Role is so successful...

While an amateur filmmaker can't produce the same results as professional filmmakers, they can still learn from the pros. So GMs can still learn from Matt Mercer (I presume that's who you meant, rather than Colville) even if they don't have the same time, resources, or skills.

D&D 5E (2014) Is there a secret lore book WotC is hiding?

Vincke and Mearls have been in their industries for decades and have worked on tons of projects, each one of which would have had a collection of notes for reference. There is no way that they would be excited about such a mundane thing. That would be like getting excited over the weekly staff...

D&D 5E (2014) Is there a secret lore book WotC is hiding?

Except this is not how Mearls described it. He said it would be "profound" or "even shocking" if fans were to see it.

D&D 5E (2014) Is there a secret lore book WotC is hiding?

If it were just a standard setting or IP bible I doubt Vincke would have thought it was worth mentioning or that Mearls would have been reluctant to talk about it. Mearls would have just called it that rather than struggling to describe it. It's not as if this is the first time either of them...

D&D 5E (2014) Player agency and Paladin oath.

I have no interest in arguing about how to treat make believe creatures in a fantasy game. The issue I see is that you keep bending over backwards to defend and justify the actions of the players of the chaotic PCs but will not do the same for the Paladin player. It seems that your general...

D&D 5E (2014) Player agency and Paladin oath.

So why are you pinning this on the paladin? If you didn't expect the PCs to kill the giant, why are you criticizing the paladin player for not wanting to kill it? Why aren't you criticizing the players of the chaotic characters for their foolish insistence on choosing between killing it or doing...
