    Races & Classes spotted?

Tquirky, I don't think genres are prescriptive. They are descriptive. There is no one ultimate "generic" Bible with all the genre rules in them. You can break rules, but that's only because people have individually made up their own. In reality, everything is in flux. Chaotic, messy flux. It's...

    Rechan wasn't serious.

    Races & Classes spotted?

Not even. Center World, maybe. Or Ends Planet. The point is that it's more like a knock off of Middle Earth. D&D is really its own genre, and it evolves.

    Races & Classes spotted?

Look, there is nothing wrong with being disappointed about not liking dragonborn. But all the arguments you're making are the kind someone makes when they are disappointed when their favorite didn't get picked. The racial list has changed before, and there is a LOT of variety between tables. So...

    Races & Classes spotted?

Not everything is about fashion. Some people actually like them on their merits. The fact that they gravitated to those specific things is what matters.

D&D 4E OMG! 4E PHB to Have RP advice!

I know what you mean. The world is a continual disappointment. Everything gets so close to being absolutely METAL, but we never seem to make it. It's like trying to get to absolute zero. ;)

D&D 4E OMG! 4E PHB to Have RP advice!

Would it make you feel better if I said that I believe you can be wrong about more than just those two things? Your potential for wrongness is INFINITE! I have only one thing to ask you... Tea and cake or death?

I think Orcs are the mystery race...

Also, Orc is kind of a lame Mystery Race. "The mystery is revealed! We're adding another half to the half-orc! An orc half!" And this is after the Tiefling and Eladrin have already been revealed? Wouldn't the natural progression be to something MORE unexpected than those two? Edit: I should...

I think Orcs are the mystery race...

I'm starting to think it's shifters. There's the Cliffwalk Archer in DoD (the new mini set), and a "Werewolf Champion." Shifters also have a lot of potential for level-based acquired racial abilities, which are integral to the new edition. The only trouble is that elves kind of fill the "close...

Well, it was always a strawman. ;)

Magic items are finally rare !

Well, all I can say is keep in mind that the actual storytelling comes from you, so the stuff from the previews are bound to sound like a big bunch of random rules. ;)

    Likely poison mechanics

Just think of the mechanic as a combat mechanic. It's for poisons or toxins that hurt you quickly enough to be relevant in combat. Many real world poisons are powerful enough that their inclusion is best left to the DM to include as a plot device instead of a common tactical weapon. Edit: I...

    DRAGON #360 Art Gallery: Dryad

That doesn't have anything to do with magic, as far as I'm concerned. That doesn't make your preference less valid, but I don't see the magic thing in the least. Again, I go straight to Pan's Labyrinth (rent it if you haven't seen it, a great movie). I could see a female "fierce forest...

    DRAGON #360 Art Gallery: Dryad

Well, this is fantasy, where appearances match the metaphor. (Also, I like the idea of darker, more elemental, more alien fey. Ever see Pan's Labyrinth? :)) I'll give you that there are too many male figures, though. I had to see it for myself. Some of those minis could easily be women.

Magic items are finally rare !

House rules have always been incorporated into new editions of D&D. And sometimes things change incrementally (and other things become completely different, depending on the problem). We just hope it's for the better. And furthermore, it sounds like you don't want us to have your fun! ;) Edit...

    Jonathan Tweet denounces Power Attack

Most monsters die within five rounds, in my experience. If the monster dies in the fourth round, then two rounds is nothing to dismiss.

Magic items are finally rare !

I would prefer a system that allowed the Rogue to hoard tons of gold (like Haley ;)), and not have an abysmal AC (for instance). I would like for magic items to weigh less in proportion to other things so that it's not a catastrophe if I curtail my spending on magical gear. At the least, I would...

Magic items are finally rare !

Soon I suppose you'll be saying that spending all your adventuring gold on wenches and wine is a bad thing? Pshaw! Edit: They may be too ashamed to specifically adventure for a magical spoon, but I definitely see adventurers wanting to BUY things like that. Which is basically just a step removed.
