Deft Strike - questions (and other rogue/other questions)

That's right. But you will rarely be using basic attacks. Unless you have high strength and low dex (which seems foolish), you'll be using powers (like deft strikes) to take your standard actions. So in reality, you end up using dex. For opportunity attacks, you're stuck with STR though. No...

New answers about spellbooks in the FAQ

    Huh? What's the point then?

Rogue: Wielding dagger, offhanding shuriken? No penalties?

Are you certain? I'd think shuriken were equivalent to weapons with the 'load free' property.

New answers about spellbooks in the FAQ

That's pretty much comparable to replacing due to multiclassing, so I guess it's the same thing (replace both powers)

    D&D 4E Another Review of 4e

I think it's pretty evident that 4th edition shifts the focus for the 'skill' aspect of the game from character creation to character usage. In 3rd, the deciding factor behind a characters', and particularly a martial character's, effectiveness was the build. Builds ranged from...

Please help, i have a lot of doubts with 4th edition :_(

Not neccesarily. Your cover is determined from one corner of your square to all corners of your enemy's square, and vice verca. If a covering object is in the way of a part of your square, you have cover, but your enemy will not have cover. Which makes sense from a realism viewpoint.

Just realized something about item crafting.

A life not spent killing stuff? :)

    Neat Little Gamist Rulesy Things

That and improved ring usage. And the ability to use action points several encounters in a row without another rest. While milestones still cant trumph a good nights sleep, they reduce the incentive to rest ridiculously often.

    Few questiuons about rules

Actually, by the rules as written, shift does not provoke OA when you leave a square adjacent to an enemy. One could argue, however, that letting the fighter get another opportunity attack each round by just shifting away was not the intended interpretation of the rules.

    Daily powers missing

Or rather, never made that description because it's not a premade. But yeah, powers with the reliable keyword aren't expended on a miss. See page 55 in the PHB.

    Preparing Daily/Utility spells for Wizards

You write pairs (or triplets with expanded spellbook) of spells on your sheet, then you mark one spell from each set every time you prepare. It is. Compare it to the vancian method and its nothing. Even with expanded spellbook, you'll be keeping track of a lot fewer spells than a mid-level...

    Smudges - All Core books

Slightly wavy pages here. There's a single instance of a few smudged letters that I've been able to find (store handling, maybe), but I haven't been able to smudge it myself. So either it was wet ink that has dried now, or my hands are insufficiently toxic :)

    Offhand Attacks

Yes. As a rule of thumb, if no sensible powergamer would ever NOT take a power, its probably too powerful.

    Offhand Attacks

The fighter does get to use two kinds of weapon though, for twice the special-power goodness.

    Unaligned Clerics

Yeah. I think the key here is that they are unaligned, not neutral. A good character takes a moral standpoint of his own that is different from Bahamuts. An unaligned character does not take a standpoint of his own, he just does what Bahamut tells him to do. I'd say that a character who is...

    Minion Criticals

Isn't that sort of the point though? To force the PCs to waste time and powers on the little guy, and to give them some use for their cool powers-that-go- boom. I thought that was what minions where for. If they posed a significant treat on their own, they'd hardly be minions.

    Weapon Help!

Nope, not above what a 1-handed weapon would deal. Not unless they're versatile. I haven't crunshed the numbers, but apart from the better attack bonus, you could be a fighter and want the heavy blade benefits.

Question about sneak attack and multiple attacks

It's more than one enemy, but it says "once per round" and "that enemy". So I'd go with only dealing the damage once.
