The Necromancer: Combo Point Spellcaster, anyone?

Back to what the OP said, casting classes that scaled up rather than down with time would definitely be welcome in my game. The increase in power would be balanced by a loss of resources, like hit points, which would help lead to much more reasonable times between rests.

    D&D 4E What 5E needs to learn from 4E

Not being a 4e player I'm curious; what about 4e boss fights makes them exciting? Last I heard (before reading this thread), they were considered a slog.

    Help explain a civil war

A sudden lack of resources, like a drout, could cause conflict, especially if there is a source that's being horded by a small faction.

    Full-time DM, Part-time Prep

I'd say the easiest way to look for inspiration is to read. It can give you plots, settings, and characters to steal, and it's also system-neutral.

The Human Race has no Culture!

Homogenous humans has also always bothered me. I also don't like it how, going by race descriptions, humans are the only ones that live anywhere, believe anything, and are amazingly adaptable. Maybe humans would be more intersting if rather than being the dominant race they were a minority...

Well, and that it's a dragon. And knowing the previous editions that it breaths acid and lives in the desert...

    Pechs

Nice idea. I would like to point out though that it seems like races are getting a choice of which stat to boost.

    Misc. Thoughts

Fighters have expertise dice? I'm not sure I like this mechanic. In fact, I'm not sure I like the way they seem to be thinking about fighters. One of the large reasons fighters have always lagged so far behind casters is that fighters alter the mechanical world while casters alter the game...

    Racist Dragons

Looking at the new Sorcerer class, his abilities depend on what type of dragon he descended from, which is not a problem. What I do object to is the way the dragons are named. Every other species with variants has a meaningful variety - hill dwarves live in the hills, mountain dwarves in the...

    AoOs?

It would be nice if there were some sort of momvement stopping ability, similar to ZoC in many computer games (like Battle for Wesnoth) but not as complicated nor ineffective as AoOs were, in my game at least, in 3.5e.

"For a more old school experience..."

For a more old school experience, lose the following bonuses... Nope, none of my players seemed to want to go for that. Can't imagine why.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E needs to be pro-moldbreaking

5e is going to be feedback-based, so what molds it makes or breaks should largely depend on what we, the players and DMs testing the game, say we want.

    No Racial Hatred

I've seen a lot of back and forth on the forums about what races people don't want to see in the Player's Handbook, but what is there that people do want? Especially lesser-known races that deserve more love. I'd personally play 5e no matter what races they include, so there are no deal-breakers...

    D&D 5E (2014) I want a return to long duration spells in D&D Next.

I like that idea. Not only would it be easier to track, it has a very fantasy feel to it. I can't imagine Cinderella's fairy godmother telling her "this spell only lasts until... one sec... level 15 means... 1 minute and 32 seconds after midnight."
