    Raise Shields!

I'm hoping for a Golden Wyvern feat for my board-and-sword fighter.

Favorite and Least Favorite 4th Edition Elements

Favorite: The promise of faster game play (including easier DM prep) Least: Too many changes for change sake: demon/devil revisions, points of light, class set, race set, and on and on. Not any one of these bothers me too much, but the cumulative effect is my least favorite aspect.

Heroes to get 'back on track' in Vol 3

Might be good news, but to tell the truth I've given up on Heroes after a few episodes this season. I really didn't like the pacing, and how the sacrifice at the end of last season was undone. Add to this the totally obvious plot of Hiro in Japan, and I started spending my TV time elsewhere...

D&D 4E The internet: 4E can't have it both ways

I voted "yes" with the caveat that the internet opinion should be given its proper weight (which is far less than the internet opinion generally thinks it should be). After all, what company doesn't listen to its customers?

    Warlord or Rubber Ducky?

Sorry sir, I had to go with the ducky.

    Abundance of NPCs

I know when I ran the adventure (which barely got into the Fire Forest) the abundance of NPCs was quite a problem. Perhaps it is a style thing, but the party was close to being out numbered by NPCs: Torrent, Crystin, Haddin, burned dude they try to rescue from the forest. And those were just...

    Anyone seen 3:10 to Yuma?

I also thought this movie had some really dumb parts. Near the end of the movie, the bad guys kill the surrendering good guys and then ask for another surrender, and the good guy actually considers it. Huh? Didn't you just watch those surrendering guys get gunned down in cold blood? Earlier...

    Untrained/trained Skills....Noooo!

I disagree that being a blacksmith has zero effect on the game. I can see it come up every so often. Pick a more useful profession for an adventurer like sailor and it can come up a lot. Having "just put it in your background" can lead to min-maxers writing long backgrounds that touch on...

Bionic Woman- Season 1 [Pilot] 9/2007

Ick! Didn't like it at all. Bad dialog, bad acting, bad overall plot decisions, but I stay tuned to the end to be rewarded by a bad fight. Ick!

    Oots 485

In episode 11 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0011.html) everyone but Belkar is equally affected by the Unholy Blight spell implying they are all good. in particular, Hailey, Elan, Roy, and Durkon drop their weapons as if stunned. Of course, Unholy Blight does not stun, but it also has no...

    The Toughness Feat

At +3/level, I'm surprised no one is taking it. Then again, I offered toughness as +6 hit points flat out for my 1st-3rd level campaign, and had no takers. It did make the opposition a lot tougher. I'm threatening to offer toughness as +10 hit points next campaign to see if there are any...

Fantasy Concepts: An OGL Fantasy Saga Project

Revamping the entire Vancian spellcasting system is a task of similar scope. If you approach magic accounting (items and bonuses) in a modular way, you might want to do the same for spellcasting.
  13. M

Hey! Let's make another bad module!

Beyond the curtain in an open-air cavern, three kobolds are playing a dice game with two orcs. All eight of them charge the PCs on sight. 2 Kobolds, AC 21, hp 2, 1, 8 3 Orcs, AC 2, hp 21, 22 The Kobolds throw javelins and stay back, while the orc sorcerers cast their spells. Inside the...

D&D 3.x Beating 3.5 Psionics with the nerf bat

I see this all the time when people want to modify psionics for their game. Perhaps he likes psionics, and thus wants to use them, but finds that they don't quite fit his game. I like changes 2, 3, and 4. I think 1 is way out there. Having played a psychic warrior, having to use a full round...

Fantasy Concepts: An OGL Fantasy Saga Project

I think this is where you just lost me. The accounting of keeping track of magic items, and the accounting of all the various bonuses to stats brought about by spells and magic items is exactly one of the places where D&D needs to be simplified.

Fantasy Concepts: An OGL Fantasy Saga Project

I love this project. How can I help out? A few pages ago you said you were looking for an Open Game version of the increase two stats each level. Well, a system that I came up with that is nearly the same might help: At 2nd level and every four levels thereafter (6th, 10th, etc) you can...

    Design example: Trap method

NPC: "The Master" is an expert swordsman of some renown, when traveling through a town he often attracts a small swarm of followers hoping to learn from him.

How would you do 3.5e in 160 pages?

True, maybe I went too far. I've been working on a Dark Sun like setting, and none of the default animals are available. I had a similar problem with animals in an ice age setting. So I would include only animals and monsters needed by players: animals for companions, simple undead that you...

How would you do 3.5e in 160 pages?

I certainly don't want 16 pages of conditions. I like the saga system where you have only six conditions (all okay, -1 to every thing, -2, -5, -10, and unconscious). I don't want monsters in the rule book because those are setting specific. Animals perhaps, but those are still setting specific.
