    D&D 5E (2014) Orion Black No Longer a D&D Designer [UPDATED!]

A pretty generic corporate statement from Wotc, doesn’t really change anything one way or the other. I’m not that surprised, Orion didn’t show any concrete proof after all. On the other hand, after Tito’s tweets, I’m pretty sure some serious internal discussion is ongoing. They just won’t speak...

D&D 5E (2014) How good is the healer feat compared to Hit Dice?

With 2,5 uses per day (1,5 short rests), your numbers are right if you also use all your HD in a single day. Helldritch correctly pointed out that you might only have half of your HD available, if you're adventuring day after day after day. In the end, it's not easy to make general assumptions...

D&D 5E (2014) How good is the healer feat compared to Hit Dice?

The decision to ban the healer feat for this campaign was taken during session zero. The sorcerer player was skeptical, but everyone else wanted to try it. We wasted about 30 mins of our last session because the sorcerer player is annoyed about the no healer feat campaign rule. The rest of the...

D&D 5E (2014) How good is the healer feat compared to Hit Dice?

Current composition is psi knight fighter (the telekinetic shield is helping a lot), kensei monk, Arctic land druid, dragon sorcerer.

D&D 5E (2014) How good is the healer feat compared to Hit Dice?

That's usually what our current DM replies to the complaining player. I usually add that feats are an optional rule, and as such, no feat can possibly be required to play the game. But then, he insists that regardless, the game is less fun without the healer feat, for some of the reasons that...

D&D 5E (2014) How good is the healer feat compared to Hit Dice?

Well, let's just say that this campaign was meant to be a little experimental  we literally never played 5e without a character with Healer, and we really wanted to try it out...and tbh, it is a little painful, as you said. At times it feels like the DM has to play softball with us or else...

D&D 5E (2014) How good is the healer feat compared to Hit Dice?

Well, I suppose every table plays the game a little differently. We generally assume that 2 short rests are a given and a third might sometimes be achieved, and also generally assume multiple long rests after an hard adventuring day. If we reduced expected short rests to 1,5 (down from 2,5) and...

D&D 5E (2014) How good is the healer feat compared to Hit Dice?

I'm going to give a little background. We've concluded a level 3-level 11 campaign not too long ago. I was the DM. Healer feat was allowed. We decided to try another campaign, this time starting from level 1 and with Healer banned. This time, I'm a player. The campaign is ongoing, we're halfway...

D&D 5E (2014) Brainstorm - stories to tell with WotC's new position on various folk (fka "race")

A strong orc kingdom has been raiding and fighting its human city states neighbors for centuries. Now, they face an invasion from an undead army lead by a death knight. Are orcs, humans, elves, etc going to band together against the dead, or is the orc kingdom going to be left alone and overrun...

D&D 5E (2014) How good is the healer feat compared to Hit Dice?

Greetings, I'm going to share this little comparative analysis I've made. I wanted to find out how the healing granted by the healer feat compares to the healing that a party can expect from hit dice expenditure. Assumptions for the sake of the analysis: PC parties are assumed to get 2,5 short...

    [IC] Eberron: The Plumbers

“We didn’t get a chance to interrogate the prisoners, our main concern was getting out of there with Coal intact, before more of those thugs could show up” Liutbrand changed his posture, a pensive look on his face “technically, with Coal delivered and payment settled, our contract is done...

Nah dude, that would be so unproductive!

    D&D 5E (2014) Orion Black No Longer a D&D Designer [UPDATED!]

Also possible, of course. Could be an all or nothing desperate move. One thing's for certain: before Tito's tweets, WotC would have been able to shrug this whole thing as an ex employee being bitter and move on. After Tito's words, there will be consequences.

    D&D 5E (2014) Orion Black No Longer a D&D Designer [UPDATED!]

Dunno, Fenris. I don't think Tito's words are part of a corporate strategy. I think that enough people at WotC openly agree with Tito, so he feels safe speaking his mind. He probably thinks enough people will stand with him in a possible upcoming confrontation. I sense some internal factionalism...

    D&D 5E (2014) Orion Black No Longer a D&D Designer [UPDATED!]

He's throwing people under the bus, though. Important people. All while claiming a moral high ground for himself. I don't think that's going to fly unnoticed. Somebody is going to lose its job, perhaps in a few months.

    D&D 5E (2014) Orion Black No Longer a D&D Designer [UPDATED!]

Oh boy, this is a very strong response. Someone at WotC must be livid right now. Heads will roll, too early to say whose.

    D&D 5E (2014) Orion Black No Longer a D&D Designer [UPDATED!]

Could be, but this insider's position does seem to align with my previous, unrelated gut feeling, so I'm more inclined to believe what they're saying on this specific matter. I'm human :) About everything else, I would have to wait for a response from WotC and possibly some proof.

    D&D 5E (2014) Orion Black No Longer a D&D Designer [UPDATED!]

I would have to dig through thousands of posts to find the exact quotes. I don't think it's worth it just for "being right" on the internet. However, i distinctly remember saying that I wasn't sure about WotC's sincerity about the whole "fantasy races depictions and racism" thread, but that...

    D&D 5E (2014) Orion Black No Longer a D&D Designer [UPDATED!]

I didn't know who Orion was before today, but this tweet will definitely be career-damaging. You don't get to make serious accusations like that without presenting proof, and still expect to be hired by other companies. In any case, until I see something substantial, I'm not going to rally...
