Actually, the spell doesn't need to be the "same type", just on your list. For example Cure Light Wounds is a Divine spell, except when a Bard casts it. Then it's Arcane. Yet a Bard can use a standard Divine type Cure Light Wounds wand.

Note, of course, that the quasi-deity would punch DR as if their hands were +4. They don't actually get that +4 to hit or damage. It's only counted when it comes to bypassing DR. So even a +1 sword would benefit them, in that it would give them the actual bonus to hit and damage.
