Versatile and Fighter Weapon Talent question

If you're using a weapon two-handed, you're not using it one-handed and as such don't get any bonuses that attach to using something one-handed.

Ironeyes the Bloodlock, or, Dwarf warlock/wizard is scary

Ranger/Pit Fighter? Possible 12 more damage to bugbear or minotaur? What?

What does an acrobatic stunt do?

Of course there's a bonus. In the example of riding down stairs on a shield while firing a bow, it sounds like the character wants to take a basic attack while also making an extended move motion. The bonus is that if he succeeds he's at the bottom of the stairs and has made an attack. If he...

    Swimming in plate armor??

Modern reenactments have shown that it's possible to run, swim, or jump onto a horse in full plate. Unlike chain, plate mail is strapped on piece by piece to individual body parts, making it more evenly distributed and easier to bear. People have done cartwheels in full plate. I'd just go...

    Lava question

I'm thinking the "fall in lava == die" was part of the early design process that got scrapped in favor of complete elimination of save or die elements. The fire titan hurls lava to do 4d6+6 damage. Another creature uses lava to cause 5 ongoing fire damage. I'd say that immersion in lava...

    Wizard Spell Questions!

You get the normal number of encounter spells and can use them whenever. As for scrolls, yeah, looks like they're just rituals. You can retrain powers as you level and learn whatever powers you want, so spell scrolls are pointless (except as oneshots, and that would be unbalanced).

Stealth is useless in low level dungeon crawls.

My next dwarf (ranger) is going to sound like the swedish chef.

    1[w] damage question.

Yup. You include your feats. Specific beats general. The general rule for the power is "1[W] damage", the specific rule for the feat is "add this damage whenever you use a power or ability involving an axe".

    The Tarrasque: An indepth analysis

Yeah, but it's got resist all damage 10. Plus it's immune to charm and fear effects. It gets all its saving throws at +5. It has blindsight 20. It has reach three, and it's a 4x4 creature (could be bigger if you wanted). The resist all should be obvious. Immune to charm and fear? You're...

Two weapon fighting, rangers, sneak attacks

Basically, you have a bastard sword in one hand and a short sword in the other. You attack with the bastard sword until you get CA, then you use the short sword for that one attack and get the sneak attack bonus. Then, because you've used your once per encounter sneak attack, you go back to...

    The Tarrasque: An indepth analysis

Okay, here's a question. The tarrasque is a Gargantuan (minimum 4x4) creature. One of its powers is Trample; it can move its speed through enemy spaces, must end in an unoccupied space. When it moves through enemy space it makes an attack and knocks the guy prone. Fine. Here's the question...

Two-handed weapons -- nerfed, or am I missing something?

Yep. It's a paragon tier feat... and it requires Dex 15, which will make it difficult for many defenders.

    D&D 4E 4E Item price parity.

Why the obsession with lanterns? Lanterns are actually tough to make, because you have to be able to let light out and air in without also letting wind in. It's not like a lantern's just a rock with a candle stuck on.

Katar-- Cool weapon to throw in the recycling bin?

I made a rogue and gave him TWF and TWD because the first gave him a damage bonus and the second gave him a defense bonus. Then I gave him two different magic daggers because they gave him different powers and bonuses. One gave a damage bonus to all attacks, the other had a big bonus on crits...

Because it was period of intense and constant social and technological development as northern and western europe climbed from the barbarism that was never ameliorated by the presence of Rome? Because, really, that's what the period following the fall of the Roman Empire was, and it was called...

How else are you going to prove that a first level character in 4e isn't as good as a 5th level character in 3.5?

    Clarification Question on Basic Attacks

I statted up a dragonborn rogue and then leveled it up through level 30. I can't recall seeing a single class power that didn't trigger off of dexterity. His basic attacks, though, are strength based.

    Polymorph - Gone?!?

Polymorph and summoning are awesome because they're broken. Yes, a significant portion of the fun is in the fluff, that your PC is able to turn into a troll, or a frost giant, or maybe even just a bear. But the major portion of the fun is that, because of that change, you're able to win the...

    Clarification Question on Basic Attacks

Nope. No feats. Rogues don't really rely on their basic attacks. They're really meant to move through the battle and dole out buckets of damage and conditions rather than wait for opportunities to come their way.
