Will CON become a dump stat?

From what we've seen of the Warlord, it appears that each class is designed to have a primary stat that every member of that class should focus on and two secondary stats each of which is more important to either of the two builds in that class. Judging from another article, Fighters are going...

    D&D 4E Does 4E fix the 5-minute workday?

Since the rules state you can only get the benefits of an extended rest once per day, that would mean you'd have to explicitly houserule the five minute day. Does anyone actually want to do that?

    D&D 4E What are HPs in 4E?

You're covered in tiny nuns. Every time you would be hit by a spell or weapon, these tiny nuns selflessly throw themselves between you and the effect. You have as many nuns as you have HPs. You also carry extra nuns in a magic bag, and use of a healing surge entails nothing more complicated...

Monsters are more than their stats

Not to worry, players always try to break the game.

Big swords tend to bug me, too, yeah. Fortunately, in video games there tend to be more distractions (like story). With a picture I just look and see "Wow... no."

Every time I see a war hammer depicted like the one in that vampiress pic, I wince. The head of that hammer has to weigh more than fifty pounds! More likely around a hundred! You could use it as a weapon, but it would be so slow and unwieldy that you'd die before you got in a second swing! A...

    D&D 4E Sandbox game: should I 4e?

Quick answer: A game in which the player(s) is(are) free to explore. If you're familiar with video games, then Oblivion is the ultimate sand box; you can ignore the story completely and just go play around in the world all you want. The opposite would be the shooter games at arcades where the...

What good is an Endurance skill?

The ceiling descends. I make a strength check to stop it, then an endurance check every turn to keep it stopped.

    Each Stats Schtick

I could see wisdom or intelligence being necessary for more powerful magic items, though that might be kind of dick.

    Hit Points?

Again, going back to the article (same quote, different emphasis): I don't know about other classes, but the fighter's weapon choice is definitely going to be, if not determined, then at least bolstered by his stats. It sounds like a hammer fighter's sploits are going to read [W] + Con for...

    Hit Points?

From Dunamin's link: Bolding mine. I think we're looking at a core that focuses on making very different builds possible, with no dump stats and no stats that are vital to all gameplay.

    What to call adventurers?

Murderous hobos, eh? Doesn't roll of the tongue. Killer hobos... kill-bos Killboys! Like Cowboys, only they kill stuff!

    Minions above 1st level

That card doesn't have XP, unfortunately, but I suspect a reasonable encounter could include a higher level minion. It'd be hard to hit, and it would do a lot of damage, but would only take one or two hits to take down. Imagine that vampire as an evil hell-mosquito.

Powers, Feats, Abilities by level: My Best Guess

Something at every level! Yay! Except level thirty. That's when they throw you a party and give you a crappy watch, a mediocre cake, and a firm handshake. Then they sing the retirement song, mumbling a bit because no one outside your department knows your name (bastards are just there for...
