    Simulationist Question on PoL

A merchant comes into town with a single cart full of iron stock pulled by four heavy draft horses. He leaves with four carts full of oats, hay, and legumes, each pulled by two horses. Where did the three carts and four horses come from? From the village as part of the trade.

    Joy. It's the Buddy's Girlfriend.

Her interest might not stem from the best reason, but it's there. It doesn't matter that she's doing it solely because she wants to spend more time with her boyfriend and show an interest in a hobby that's important to him. The fact is that both he and she want her to be there and it's in...

    Joy. It's the Buddy's Girlfriend.

Executive Summary: She hasn't watched that many fantasy or action movies; she doesn't have preconceived notions about the roles she'd like to play. Lead her by the hand to build up a character. It sounds like she's never really been into the fantasy/action genre so she doesn't really have...

    Points of Light: Locations

If there's a source of clean water that's impervious to damage... why isn't there a significant population center there? Clean drinking water's kind of a big deal. Unless there's some kind of very slow damage curse on the area, there should be a village around such a fountain. Hell, a city!

    Simulationist Question on PoL

I wouldn't picture the Points of light as being a small village surrounded by ravening hordes. A village of 100 people could live on as little as fifty square kilometers of farmland (unirrigated), that's a square roughly four and a half miles on a side. On open, level ground, a person can walk...

'Dungeons & Dragons' fights for its future

It was kind of disturbingly retarded. It focused exclusively on the online content, about which we know very little, and ignored everything else about the game. Particularly the fact that it still has a large and devoted following.

    Dispel Magic

Aren't buffs either a one shot deal (I hit this enemy and also buff an ally) that last a round or otherwise effects that require an action to sustain? Basically, that would mean that you could get at most two buffs per character, with only one of them subject to dispel, right?

    Anti-martial effects?

Please, it's easy! Just tell her you're not ready, or insult her cooking, or just sleep with someone else! Wait, anti-marTIal? Never mind.

    Anti-martial effects?

I would guess that would be an area of effect (close burst 1, burst 2, etc)

    Anti-martial effects?

Really, I think the purpose behind having higher level monsters with spell resistance and/or magic-nullifying abilities was because high level spellcasters were so incredibly powerful compared to other high level PCs. Since they're deliberately designing the various classes to be on a par at...

Anyone have a concept for a Divine striker or controller?

Nope! It's something I heard places and took for truth. I did some searching around, but the only info I could find on an arcane leader was this post on a summoner class. However, on all the message boards, people seem to say time and again that the devs are saying the Bard will be the arcane...

Anyone have a concept for a Divine striker or controller?

I'm pretty sure it's already been said that the bard will be an arcane leader.

    D&D 4E 4e and Computer Games

I'd like to see a step back in D&D computer games. I think the desire for pretty graphics and such have impaired the story. NWN2 barely runs on my computer and, let's face it, the story's not that great (and it's still buggy as hell). I wouldn't mind if the graphics didn't push the envelope...

Anyone have a concept for a Divine striker or controller?

Yeah, Celebrim, that's why the core only has two defenders, three strikers, two leaders, and one controller; because they admirably fill the requisite roles and strike a balance between tradition (in name, mostly) and innovation. The diversity that will come out in later books will be mostly...

    Pile up your Dead

Is it time to refer to OotS again? I think it is. Anywho, I think to make it realistic, you'd have to not only make people climbing over corpses a balance check of some kind, but give them combat advantage once they're up there.

Anyone have a concept for a Divine striker or controller?

Most of that is fluff, though, right? If you wanted, you could remake the warlock as a divine striker and say he's made a pact with a god instead of a devil.
