    PDFs - Does size matter?

As a consumer, so far I've been quite willing to pay the cost of the original product, minus what I guestimate is a reasonble cost for printing (ie, the gross profit per unit), minus a little bit (and I do mean little) for the inconvenience of PDFs over hardcopy. Generally this means I'm...

    D20 apocalypse

I have to apologize for being less than polite before (it was not warranted), but still I think you are incorrect. However - if you don't like merchants selling potable water, I'd be absolutely amazed beyond words if you were the first DM to tweak a setting for their own preferences, and...

A Realization (maybe an epiphany?) about D&D

Sometimes I'm in the mood for D&D. Other times (particularly in the last year or two) I've found myself again reaching outside of D&D for gaming. When I want to play a game that is what D&D is, I play D&D. When I want to play a game that is not like D&D, I choose to play another system...

    D20 apocalypse

Because groups of like-minded individuals organizing and then gaining power and wealth due to the control and distribution of limited but vital resources to which they have priviledged access due to circumstance or location is unrealistic!

    PDFs - Does size matter?

It's a minor inconvenience at worst though. And really, I prefer them zipped. It doesn't save space but it saves me multiple mouse clicks on the front end, and stores more cleanly than twelve individual files.

    PDFs - Does size matter?

I love PDFs. Like you, I buy tons of them :) Still, I'm not really fond of the little PDFs. I do buy them but mostly for evaluation purposes. If I like one of the little stand-alone PDFs, I'll then go buy the compilations that invariably follow (like the packet of 2004 Archetypes for M&M for...

    D20 apocalypse

Yeah, the second edition is way better than the first for tons of mechanical reasons like that.

    D20 apocalypse

It is still set centuries after the fall. But, it is now just a 378 page D20M expansion. And they did away with the mutant generations (gen 1, 2 and 3). Mechanically, it *is* just D20M now. But if you disliked the theme before you probably won't like it any more now than you did then.

    Need opinions on Dungeon Bash!

Anyone? Diaglo, sure when you get a chance that'd be much appreciated.

    Anyone play D&D online?

    There's also a few others I know of to add to that list: http://www.rpol.net http://www.playbyweb.com http://www.plothook.net http://www.rpgnet.com http://forum.rpg.net/

    Arguments That Never Die

This looks pretty cool actually. And I'm a fan of 15mm for miniature wargames, so that works for me as well. Can't wait for some preview pictures to come out...

    Need opinions on Dungeon Bash!

I'm curious about Dungeon Bash by The Other Game Company. How well does it work? How fast does it play? Is it suitable for 1 PC? Would it work for introducing an intelligent 8 year old to gaming? Other thoughts/impressions? Thanks! http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=4627&

    D20 apocalypse

Ooh nice idea! I'd buy it. Maybe they could do something along the lines of Wasteland Fury / Blood & Fists...

    D20 apocalypse

Well, DW does have scalable mutations actually. DW treats tech levels as feats (some of which you get free with particular backgrouns). However, it really lacks anything concrete in terms of a barter system. I've just had to compare item values and wing it for the results, and something...

    D20 apocalypse

My understanding is that D20 Apoc is going to be mostly complementary with Darwin's World 2, not competitive, so I will definitely check it out. At 96 pages and the track record set by D20 Past, though, it is impossible to believe that even if it was competitive it could possibly do as good a...

    Tell me about Blue Rose

Yeah, it's amazing that a thread on Blue Rose would have people commenting about their opinions of Blue Rose.

Is this gaming product too offensive or merely funny?

It's meant to be funny. My feeling is that you are taking it too seriously when you say you are not buying stuff from the company anymore. The product, which my wife bought me as a gag gift (I hope!!!) seems to be almost more a satire of male gamers and their views of female gamers than it...

Blue Rose: Magic system in play?

We're using TrueD20 (the mechanics of Blue Rose) for one of the Midnight games I play in. Our party has no magic users, so can't tell you what it is like as a player in practice, but as a target, the magic system feels less mundane and more supernatural than regular D&D magic (which suits...

    D&D should go point based!

I haven't been in or ran a random ability scores game in years. One man's sacred cow is another man's quarter pounder with cheese.
