D&D 5E (2024) The Cleric should be retired

I think the main confusion regarding clerics is that people think of them as priests and not warrior monks due to D&D specific fiction and weapon restrictions from older editions based upon game balance. People forget that is 1E & 2E weapons did different damage if a monster was larger or...

D&D 5E (2024) The Cleric should be retired

The cleric has no role? What about Friar Tuck from the Robin Hood legends? The Apostles and Saints of Christianity do perform holy miracles.

D&D 5E (2024) The Cleric should be retired

Honestly if a class needs to go it’s the paladin. The cleric is the original holy warrior that is adaptable to any culture. The Paladin is originally a very narrow interpretation of Christian ideals and with the de-emphasis of alignment has no real niche in the game.

D&D 5E (2024) Martials getting specific weapon masteries.

No, weapon masteries should reserved for warriors unless you spend a feat. Stop poaching martial abilities especially for rogues and paladins who are already OP

D&D 5E (2024) Speculation on the next UA in April

I think the warriors will be the next playtest as they have been hinting at giving weapons certain properties. If so, I would like to see something like this Blunt Weapons - Chance to restrain (I feel this is much more fair than a stun while accomplishing nearly the same result. You can attack...

    D&D 5E (2024) Developer Video on Druid/Paladin/Expert Feedback

I do find it interesting that they did not mention that only allowing fighters to crit on natural 20's was universally panned.

D&D General One Piece of Art VIII (People): What Piece of D&D Art Inspired You to Love a D&D Personage?

The above image of a Paladin in Hell hooked me as a teenager. To be fighting devils and demons in Hell inspired me to pick up D&D and preach it to my friends. This is the image that made me fall in love with the game

What We Lose When We Eliminate Controversial Content

Controversial topics can be used as long as they are handled respectfully. Slavery should never be glorified. It should be a condition that PC's are striving against and never defended. For example, there should be no penalty for a Paladin wishing to end slavery even if it is the law of the land.

D&D 5E (2014) What is REALLY wrong with the Wizard? (+)

I am happy with cantrips as they are. Perhaps allow them to add your stat bonus (Int, Wis Chr) to damage roll to keep pace. I don't buy the argument that light and dancing lights ruin exploration when everyone and their sister either has Darkvision or a class ability that eliminates darkness...

D&D 5E (2024) Upcoming One D&D: Unearthed Arcana 'Expert' Classes (Bard, Ranger, Rogue)

My thoughts on this playtest 1) I love that rangers also gain expertise. It fits their class perfectly. 2) I do not like rangers getting cantrips. What benefit do full casters have if half casters gain cantrips? Especially this early 3) I miss the hunter having multiple options to choose from...

    D&D 5E (2024) One D&D Cleric & Revised Species Playtest Includes Goliath

My thoughts on the cleric playtest 1) I do not like choosing a domanin at 3rd level. Most Deities in 5E only have one or two domains. What is the point of waiting till 3rd level? 2) Channel Divinity does not seem to keep up with the power level of the characters. The healing should be a D10 or...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is D&D 90% Combat?

I would say that yes, D&D is 90% combat. If that were not the case then so many discussions about balance, martials vs casters and other such topics would not have gained traction in the forums. The Rogue is a classic example. Before it was about skills, disarming traps, picking pockets, etc...

Dragonlance DRAGONLANCE LIVES! Unearthed Arcana Explores Heroes of Krynn!

That is an interesting take on Raistlin but I cannot believe a mere warlock could ever defeat Takhisis. Perhaps Raistlin was a multiclass wizard or sorcerer/warlock. This would explain him accepting the bargain and passing the Test of High Sorcery by cheating

Dragonlance DRAGONLANCE LIVES! Unearthed Arcana Explores Heroes of Krynn!

Its only a feat chain if you do not take the background. I like that certain feats cannot be taken at first level. I would throw the overpowered sharp shooter and great weapon master into this restriction also. Not as much of an issue at high level but very overpowered when taken at first level...

Dragonlance DRAGONLANCE LIVES! Unearthed Arcana Explores Heroes of Krynn!

I really like the feat options, especially for casters! The White Robes, Red Robes & Black Robes all have a feat that is flavorful and impactful. Its about time that casters get solid feat choices to rival martials! I also like the Knights of Solamnia feat options though I wish they were...

Dragonlance DRAGONLANCE LIVES! Unearthed Arcana Explores Heroes of Krynn!

I really like the options. I am very excited to see White Robe, Red Robe & Black Robe spellcasters get good feat choices that can rival martials for once! Its about time casters get some nifty feat choices.

D&D 5E (2014) Alphastream - Why No RPG Company Truly Competes with Wizards of the Coast

I am surprised that is the case as I view AD&D as the means for Gary Gygax to cut Dave Arneson out of the profits. Gary had to pay Dave royalties for D&D BECMI but not AD&D. The articles I read said Gary would always run BECMI but had rules for AD&D for profit reasons
