    Help Me Pimp Rivenroar

Looking back over the module, I honsetly don't see why there need to be any undead at all. Instead, I'll throw a bunch more goblins in there, plus some drakes and dragonspawn--after all, this is supposed to be the remnants of the Red Hand, right?

Forked Thread: DDI Subscribers: Are you satisfied with your subscription?

It's hard to tell because my RPG spending is so variable--still, I'm going to vote 'Spending More'. As far as 3eD&D went, I just purchased the core books and the few suppliments that piqued my interest. In 4th edition, I'm doing the same thing, but I'm also shelling out $60 a month for DDI...

    Hasbro 4th Quarter Report

Melba, why do you think any D&D movie will end up as campy trash? Hollywood has gotten pretty good about avoiding campyness in their recent ataptations (See Dark Knight, for example.) A D&D movie isn't necessarily going to be good, but that doesn't mean it's going to be campy.

Reprinting the Out of Print Question

Legally, no. It's still under copyright and will continue to be under copyright until sometime in the 22nd century. On the other hand, if the company is actually gone and nobody else purchased the rights to the material, then it's not as though anyone is going to sue you for distributing them.

    Ema's RPG Sheet Website down...

Well, no. You can only use OGC under the OGL or use it in ways consistent with copyright and trademark law. Copyright doesn't protect names or terminology, so if all that an author wanted to do was use the term "Beholder" in his work, he'd be okay. If he wanted to reprint the Beholder entry...

Avenger Class Details from NY Comic Con '09

I'm a little bit disapointed by thier choice of avenger-favored gods. I really wish they'd flavored the class as focusing on those more chaotic gods whose clergy you don't really expect to be wearing heavy armor and moving around slowly, like Avandra, Melora, and Corellon.

    On the matter of half-orcs

The Dark Knight didn't have any rape in it. Does that make it a kid's movie? Does the lack of rape make Saving Private Ryan suitable for youngsters? D&D can still be a game for adults without in any way referencing rape. And in every instance of rape in a D&D game I've ever seen or heard...

    Ema's RPG Sheet Website down...

That's kinda beside the point, though. Sure, WotC could be sending C&D letters when they have no legal standing, but that's clearly not the case in this instance. The details we do know are that Ema committed a number of copyright and trademark violations in ways not protected by fair...

    Need a Programmer for Number-crunching

resistor, if you do the problem right, then order doesn't matter at all. your chance of getting a 3 on a single roll is 1/216. your chance of getting a 3 on every roll is (1/216)^6 your chance of getting a 3 or 4 on a single roll is 4/216 your chance of getting a 3 or 4 on every roll is...

    Need a Programmer for Number-crunching

That's pretty obviously wrong. The probability of the highest stat being 3 is the same thing as the probability of all stats being 3s. And that's just (1/216)^6. Your value is 6 times as high. I'm gonna work on the math now and come up with better values.

    Help Me Pimp Rivenroar

So I decided to run Rescue at Rivenroar (the first adventure in the 4e adventure path) purely on the strength of the first two combats. And in my first session today (with players that are mostly new to 4e and/or D&D), those two combats went great. But according to comments in some of the...

    On the matter of half-orcs

This homosexual didn't find that scene funny in the slightest. And if a master filmmaker like Quentin Tarantino can't pull it off particularly well, how well do you think the average GM will do? In theory, rape should be an appropriate subject for an R-rated D&D game. In practice though, it...

    Ema's RPG Sheet Website down...

Do you have a patent for these features? In general, software features aren't covered by copyright law. WotC is allowed to use your ideas without compensating you, just as you are allowed to use the idea of a character defined by his STR, CON, DEX, INT, WIS, and CHA scores without compensating...

    On the matter of half-orcs

Most people can imagine rape-free orcs just fine, Pawsplay. You seem to be the exception. The problem with rape isn't just that it's a horrible act that still happens today. It's also an act that is, to some extent, trivialized. Especially in those areas of society in which men are an...

Khairn, what you don't seem to realize is that logo and the power card text ARE the WotC IP we're talking about. ENWorld doesn't "attract users using WotC IP" because they don't have that kind of stuff on here. Putting up nifty character sheets as detailed and useful as the ones Ema had isn't...

4e orcs are Proto-simian? 4e Orcs are buff hairy dudes with monstrous faces. Looking back through the various pictures, orcs seem to have become more humanlike with each edition.

    Ampersand: Wizards and Worlds

What we're really looking at here is "Good as Default". The options to play evil characters are there--we may not have necromancers, but most of the Warlock Pacts are pretty malign, and the only classes that are 'good flavored' are the cleric and paladin. The way it's set up right now, though...

PHB2 classes too tricky for newbies?

Honestly, the sorcerer looks to be the easiest class in the game, so far. His simple damage bonus is much more straightforward than any other striker's schtick (curse, quarry, sneak attack), and you can even ignore the even/odd thing if you stick with the dragon path.

Next Deities & Demigods (now with poll!)

Torog. We know absolutely nothing about him, or his worshippers. While for fairness's sake a good or unaligned god should probably come first, the one I most want to see described is Torog.
