Charge - To nearest square? Huh?

I'd say no--The closest square that the monkey can attack from would be the square that contains the wall corner--which is obviously occupied.

    Brainstorming a Supers Pantheon

Unnamed Wanderer = Martian Manhunter Windlord & Windlady = Hawkman & Hawkgirl Mars= Mars/Ares, a major Wonder Woman foe The King in Yellow = Sinestro, Green Lantern's nemesis with a yellow power ring. Snart=Captain Cold, a flash villian. Set = Hath-Set, the egyptian priest who murdered hawkman...

Forked Thread: What should Darksun 4e include?

Isn't the black mostly synonymous with the shadowfell?--I'll admit to not having the late-stage DS suppliments, so I'm not familiar with the specifics

    Brainstorming a Supers Pantheon

At one point, I developed a homebrew pantheon that was thinly disguised versions of the Justice League and some of it's adversaries. The Gods Kaleb the Warrior--God of the sun and strength, and patron to scribes. Arrived from a land beyond the sun and fought the demons at the beginning of...

Forked Thread: What should Darksun 4e include?

Is a cosmic overhaul necessarily a bad thing? The world Axis cosmology is actually really convenient for a Dark Sun game, because it increases the emphasis on the elemental planes when compared to prior editions. I think you can take the 4e cosmology, say "There aren't very many astral...

    D&dna

I was rather under the impression that Genasi were half-genie, not half-elemental. And there's no such thing as a half-illithid human--If you do the things you do with a monster to create a 'half illithid' monster, then you just get a standard illithid.

Forked Thread: What should Darksun 4e include?

I want to see DS reset to the original Boxed set. And I think the published adventure should be high-paragon or low epic, and feature the PCs freeing the city of tyr--Even in the original boxed set, it's positioned as being very much on the brink of change.

The Nature of Change (or, Understanding Edition Wars)

What nonsense is this--Unless you're only moving along a cardinal, Euclidean distance is all about square roots--can't get much more irrational than that. Now chessboard geometry, that's rational. Nice whole numbers, whatever direction you go.

With new novel reprints, will we see Dark Sun for 4e?

It's not that they want exotic, per se. It's that they need to make something different enough from their previous offerings that people will actually buy the book. With the 'keep publishing until nobody buys anything' model from previous editions, exotic stuff was a bad choice. But with the...

    Poll of Polls

Hmm. A WotC representative here to gauge our interest in polls... Does this mean might see a 10-foot-poll in the PHB2?

    Do you like edition wars?

I voted 'Lemony Snicket'. Even threads complaining about edition wars are getting tiresome right now.

    League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

How about this lineup: -Hannibal Lector -T-800 series Terminator (That's the Arnold Schwartzennegar version) -Wolverine -Draco Malfoy (HP cannonically took place in the 90s, so he'd be in his late twenties) -M (Judi Dench version) That's a nice combination that ranges from "morally grey" to...

    Previews for January and Beyond

My one thought is that the trap in that Open Grave preview is really, really deadly. Methinks that the target entry should read "the triggering creature" instead of "every creature in the affected area".

Forked Thread: Union Revised: How would you do it?

I've never actually read the ELH, but the big problems with Union that people seem to have is that a)It tries to be sigil, but isn't as cool, and b) epic level commoners. So how about this: Sigil is the center of the multiverse. It's loud, dirty, and full of life--you can find people and...

With new novel reprints, will we see Dark Sun for 4e?

Dark Sun seems like a shoe-in for 2010. While they've got unique features, both FR and Eberron are typical D&D campaign worlds, and WotC is probably going to go for something more exotic. Planescape and Ravenloft (and to a lesser extent, Spelljammer) are seeing some love as attachments to the...

How to make int not a dump stat?

What about this: When selecting skills, you may select a number of cross-class skills equal to your int modifier (if any). You are still bound by the total number of skills allowed by your class and race.

    Pythagorus in the machine

I believe I've actually done that in 3e--1st-level characters fighting animated Iron statues (hardness 10), with one adamantine short-sword between us.

    Follow the Money Edition Poll

I'm not sure what some of these questions prove, though. I mean, I own the 3e core books (and have for a while now), but if those same books were released today instead of 8 years ago, They'd still be sitting on the store shelf.

    NPCs created as PCs

The opening scene in my first campaign was a heroes vs. antiheroes arena match. It didn't really work out, and I'm still not sure how much of that was due to player inexperience vs. the toughness of the NPC rules (particularly at first level--between dailies and the universal +1 bonus, those...

    League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

The most important thing to remember is that LoeG wasn't a collection of heroes from the 1890s. It was a collection of Monsters from the 1890s.
