    Warforged and Gender

In that line of though, I imagine that having an NPC use "it" to describe warforged is a great way of demonstrating his or her contempt for the race. It's also interesting that the Warforged statblocks I've seen have generally made explicit the Idea that a warforged's gender is only in his or...

My group and I are chipping in 4th ed! great!

Ooh. Bad luck there. That's why I recommend being generic when it comes to bets. If you had said "summer of 08" instead, perhaps your group would be buying your books rather than vice versa.

    Concerning buying D&D 4th Edition

Unfortunately, there's a big gap between services that a game store "can and should provide", and services that they actually do provide. I'll continue to make purchases at my local game store, but right now the discount that Amazon.com provides is worth far more than the store's meager...

    Will buy.com get sued?

I don't see how cutting off buy.com hurts Hasbro. It's not like the books aren't made available to customers through other online (or brick-and-mortar) storefronts. I doubt that any potential customers will avoid purchasing D&D books simply because they're not listed at buy.com. Given that...

    How to gain Combat Advantage

Sure you can't tumble until 2nd level, and even then you can only tumble 1/round. But that halfling rogue gets +5 AC versus opportunity attacks, which is almost as good. It's not foolproof, but neither was 3e tumble, where you had to beat a skill check.

Just posting to make you all jealous, I HAVE THEM

Totally. I did the same thing with the 4e preview game I've been running. Both sessions went great so far--in one, the eladrin escaped with fey-step, and in the other, the wizard used mage hand to open the doors from outside.

    D&D 4E Settings for 4E?

Realms: The timeline's advance, but that doesn't make it quasi post-apocalyptic. I had a chance to run "Escape from Sembia" at Gamex this weekend. The adventure includes descriptions of Sembia, Cormyr, and the Dalelands, and none of the areas seems to have undergone any kind of apocalypse...

I also have the books [merged] (info on upcomming Power sources and more)

At 317 and 221 pages for the PHB and DMG respectively, I'm guessing each book has three pages of ads. Am I right?

For pregen runners, anyone using acid arrow over sleep?

Acid Arrow has been the choice in most of the adventures I've run so far. It ends up being a better choice in most cases, because it's far more useful against the white dragon at the end of my adventure than sleep is--that + to saves is huge. Since it does fairly significant initial damage...

Opinions, please! Is this forum valuable to you as a separate forum?

Just chiming in to agree with everyone: Keep the forum, it's slow right now, but hey, so is general. It'll probably pick up roundabout the time that the GSL goes into effect. Put the non d20 games here too. It'll move more traffic this way, and probably get more meaningful responses for...

    Excerpt: Archons (merged)

Hmm. That burst 1-4 is interesting. Not especially useful if you're just fighting ice archons, though. Their cold resistance is high enough that they're always immune to the attack.

    Escape from Sembia

Just looking through my copy of the adventure (I'm going to run it at Gamex in a few days), and I can say it's not that bad. The most difficult encounter is 4th level (175 xp per person) And that's with 5 players. If you've got six (and I imagine that most of the official D&D previews were...

Test your D&D (and medical) knowledge

Match the weapon to the group

If weapons can have multiple categories, it seems equally likely that they can have NO categories. Seems perfect for clubs, the traditional crappy weapons of D&D

What is the FONT they are using in KotS?

Comic Sans is a perfectly fine font. Unfortunately, it's the first fun/informal looking font on the scrollbar in MS Word, and gets used far more that it should. Therefore, it gets a lot of hate from folks who care about font choice. For a similar reason, anyone who's ever had to audition...

John Rogers writes for Manual of the Planes

When you go into the movie expecting it to be a serious disaster movie, it doesn't necessarily hold up. But if you're fine with something a bit more lighthearted and comical, it's great. Since I went out and rented the core immediately after having read "Drunk Southern Girls" [Read it now...
