I'm not allowed to watch Star Trek any more

Star Trek: Discovery is going to do a 'reverse Columbus' and discover Europe ... by accident. Probably starting with the big islands off the coast. 😋 (this is the closest emoji I have to 'tongue-in-cheek'; his tongue is off to the side but out of cheek)

    Content Warning [Poll]

I would go with the Pg 1 blurb. Explain where the adventure will naturally lead - but do not apologize for it. Use an "Intended for mature audiences" -type disclaimer to aid the prospective buyer make an informed decision to purchase this adventure, or look for something different. P.S. This...

What Would Be Written On Your PC's Grave Stone?

My 4e Warlock was also a travelling trader / merchant, so when I retired him I built him a mausoleum and a statue. Donated his diary and autobiography to the local library so any researcher could find out what made him tick. Yes he thought very highly of himself, why do you ask?

    Payn's Ponderings Traveller Settings

GURPS also did The Interstellar Wars, set roughly a century in the future when the men of Earth finally reach for the stars ... and find out about half of nearby space is already part of The Imperium.

    D&D and the rising pandemic

Deer keep getting into urban areas and being hit by cars "near the edge of town", not just out in the countryside / deep in a forest. The chance of exposure to COVID after hitting a deer is currently even smaller than the "struck by lightning" probability range but still a possible event. Now...

An actual Chick tract was left on my door

The local lawyer and accountant show up to audit his records. He got the money to pay for printing somehow, and "embezzling from the collection box" is one place to check.

D&D 5E (2014) On the Necessity for More Bard Threads

I dunno. Without a Bard in the party, it can be hard to sneak around a crowd. They just draw attention to themselves - all that talking and singing and music.

D&D 5E (2014) DMs which books do allow players to use

PHB + Xanathar + current campaign book (if any). Add + Tasha to the equation after I finally get around to reading it. Anything official I will look at presuming it will be added. Anything third-party I will look at presuming it will not be added. But it might turn out to be neat and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Mephits on strike

Unionizing and strikes do not just come out of nowhere. You have to plant the fact that the mephits have a gripe - presumably a legit gripe - beforehand. And there has to be a reason they do not just rise in revolt to slay the message-senders and free themselves from the onerous labor.

Disney's making 10 Star Wars and 10 Marvel TV shows

He could be made interesting (to me at least) if they used him as an opening to explore "Can a person train themselves on purpose to be as good at something as if they were Force-proficient at it?" It would overlap with Dune (Mentats for example), but I do not imagine every other power...

D&D General 5E Survivor: Named Dragons - BAHAMUT SHINES!

    D&D and the rising pandemic

I just found a book at my local Public Library: Uncontrolled Spread by Dr. Scott Gottlieb, former FDA Commissioner. Only a chapter in. So far his thesis is that bureaucratic inertia was at the root of the COVID failure. As to personalities, he is an equal-opportunity critic.

    AD&D 2E Darksun 30th anniversary article from comicbook.com

The classic series "Against the Slave Lords" would be thematically appropriate. Of course you have to change all the outdoor scenery to Desert.

    Help Me Name My Character?

You should be able to search up the 70 (?) Noble Families of Waterdeep and get a flavor of what her last name could be. First name: Sayonara. (Must be spoken deadpan for best effect.)

    D&D and the rising pandemic

If your employer as policy keeps minimal possible staff, taking a day off (sick, vacation, doctor appointment, whatever) equals coming back to two days' worth of work awaiting you. Because nobody else has the time to spare from their workload to carry some of yours. If you have a 72-hour bug...

    D&D 5E (2014) Less killing

The original Pokemon games came as a pleasant surprise in my house when we clobbered a wild Pokemon and the screen said "Enemy fainted" instead of "Enemy died". Come up with a simple mechanic to give NPCs "Death Saves" and 0 HP turns into 'fainted' or 'knocked out' or 'surrenders' not 'dead'.
