D&D 5E (2014) Adventures in Elsir Vale (pre-Red Hand of Doom)

If you want to disassemble Keep on the Borderlands and scatter the Caves of Chaos across the Vale, consider this tie-in: When the PCs get to the goblin / hobgoblin cave complex, there are no hobgoblins of military age present; only the old, the young, and the feeble. The RHoD could be using...

    D&D 5E (2014) A reptilian world?

Dinosaurs for the natural beasts; with a little work they can cover monstrosities too.

    D&D 5E (2014) Which played-out D&D trope needs to die?

Sorcerer subtle-casts Suggestion. "Tell us everything you know about <X>." And the NPC ... does.

D&D 5E (2014) Ways for a demon to go incognito around a paladin, without being unfair to a player

Once the succubus knows there is a Paladin, she does some variant of "Minor Illusion through a keyhole" so the two are not in the room together.

I hope they are versatile and can play each others' instruments. 🎵🎶

    Duplicate of another.

A tinker gnome is likely to add some capability to the party, after enough downtime is spent experimenting, but you personally have to stay on the other side of camp just to be safe. A kender is likely to have taken the item you want when you need it most. Advantage: tinker gnome.

    D&D and the rising pandemic

I generally want to rinse my eyes in event of contact, given that Twitter is a visual medium.

D&D General Tell me about your campaign

The Giants In The Playground site has a few threads with 5e conversions of RHoD. (I found only one complete; the rest are based on play-throughs and fizzle out.) Also a 3.5era "Enhancing RHoD" type thread, "The Red Handbook of Doom". I don't know if EnWorld has a policy about linking to...

D&D 5E (2014) Best Magic Initiate spell for a scout Rogue

Do you sneak ahead much? Message to tell the party what you find. For a 1/day spell, look for things with longer duration, so they have a better chance to pay off for you.

    D&D and the rising pandemic

Rogan took a cocktail of stuff (including ivermectin and an antibody treatment). Something in there helped him kick COVID quickly ... but from only one data point we cannot tell which ingredient(s).

    D&D 5E (2014) Help me design Fantasy Americas D&D (+)

Source to mine for ideas: Killing Crazy Horse by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard. A few possibilities: The Comanche warrior culture that thinks other peoples do work so we can take what we want from them. IRL Comanche were light cavalry raiders. What would a heavy infantry oriented warrior...

Spoilers Poll (Poll about spoilers not a poll containing spoilers)

Some additional circumstances matter, and change the answer: Thread title or OP says "no spoilers please" The material is still being produced vs the material has gone to re-runs The spoilery fact has / hasn't 'gone viral' in the general population. The discussion point at hand is the plot arc...

    D&D 5E (2014) Adventuring on the moon?

Space: 1889 used the science fiction and science fantasy of the late 1800s to populate the Solar System. If you can find a Gazetteer, you might find something or other inspiring. IIRC, Mercury had rather Moon-like climate / environment, giving you more options to consider.

D&D 5E (2014) Beefing up Acererak for 16th level PCs?

IIRC there is a discussion in the Enhancing Tomb of Annihilation thread about giving Acererak different spells, and potential spell lists that create 'themes' for him (master of undead, DPR, maybe others).

    D&D and the rising pandemic

That would have the salutary side-effect of getting rid of "My opponent is a monster and a jerk!" political ads. Make the politicians explain "I am an awesome guy / gal because" ... hopefully they can complete that sentence.

    D&D 5E (2014) Crashed flying cities/fortresses (maps/modules)

4e Neverwinter Campaign Setting has a section on an old crashed floating city that now looks like a mesa. The buildings that survive are near the center, so they cannot be seen from the ground. No maps alas but you could use any walled city as a start to create your own.

    D&D and the rising pandemic

Persecutions and belittlings will accomplish nothing. Doing what hasn't worked yet, only more of it and trying harder, is not going to change their minds to think maybe this time things will improve. What will help is a serious ego-busting change: fire the highly-credentialed but...

D&D 5E (2014) So one of the players made a ranger...

For getting back into the game after years away, the PHB Ranger is a fair choice. It does what you remember Rangers doing. When your friend is comfortable with the 5e and Ranger mechanics (or expresses boredom with "I shoot an arrow at it"), give him the Tasha and Xanathar subclasses to look...

D&D General The Degenerates. The Bad Trope Characters of each class.

What do you eat for a typical breakfast?

Discovered banana-flavored Pop-Tarts exist. Not 'banana creme' so not as sweet nor drenched in frosting. Pretty good to go down dry.
