D&D General One Piece of Art III (Magic Items)- What D&D Art Inspired You to Love a Magic Item

More recent: the Ring of Warmth in Rime of the Frostmaiden. With one glance it began the Magic Items page in my note-file for a Frozen North pseudo-Viking campaign. It just looks warm and comfy to have on.

D&D 5E (2014) "Doom Sun" − reconstructing a 5e Dark Sun setting for the DMs Guild

A Certain Uber-Lich did it. The wormhole magically separates the planet from the population, who are magically divided into groups of no more than 10 living souls. The groups are placed in identical untraceable demiplanes. The survivors find themselves on the doorstep of The Tomb of Horrors.

D&D General Eberron Invades The Realms!

If the Eberron Invasion Fleet does any reconnaissance before landing, it will pounce on somewhere like demon-dominated Impiltur and appear to be the solution to a problem, not a problem itself. After consolidating their beachhead ...

D&D 5E (2014) The "Sealed Envelope" Character Campaign. Would you play?

Given that alcohol does me no good favors, I would say that is a feature not a bug in this proposal.

    Metallica Cancelled (Poll)

No, never "cancel" anybody. Society needs both role models and object lessons to learn from. And people who just do something dumb as a one-off and decide on their own to cut it out, with no public humiliation ritual involved. I remember when Metallica sued Napster over royalties, and both...

    D&D 5E (2014) Bardlock vs Sorlock

If your hexlock is melee-focussed, you will want sword bard or dragon sorcerer. These provide other attributes (armor prof, HP) that you will need to keep going in combat.

D&D 5E (2014) The "Sealed Envelope" Character Campaign. Would you play?

+1 to Oofta, above For a short campaign, yes. This would be a different set of restraints / options to try out / practice. For a long campaign, no. I know how I play (what class, stats, &c best synergize) and want to increase my chances of making it all the way to the end, not play against type.

D&D 5E (2014) Why the heck does D&D have Hecate as Chaotic Evil

From a certain point of view ... "Cancel" has a high chance of boomeranging. The power becomes 'Target: Self' or 'Target: Allies in a zone' and causes the originally-intended target to gain the effects of the spells Invisibility and Silence ... says the Grognard (a pagan priest of the old gods)

    Batgirl movie cancelled

My opinion of CNN would derail the thread. Everything Warner is being subjected to critical review by Discovery management. The people who were happy and/or comfy with "the way we do things" of course will not react well when the boat is rocked.

TSR Darksun Sales of settings, adventures and novels, year by year. 1991-1992

When I ordered Ashes of Athas from Teos, I got the whole campaign, not adventure-by-adventure.

    Batgirl movie cancelled

Among other things WBD is shaking up, CNN is being told to leave the opinions and get back to news. Somebody at Discovery must have studied their historical (since 1990) ratings. If I was billions of dollars in debt, I would be asking questions like "Will this project draw large audiences (and...

Any clever ideas for a dungeon mapped onto a sphere?

The dungeon looks suspiciously like the Death Star. In particular whenever you go to a lower level. If the PCs are supposed to be on the surface of the sphere, then the PCs should see a too-close horizon. Running along a straight flat passageway means you go 'over the horizon' from your...

Disney Star Wars Is It Actually That Bad?

Because of the requirements of the next assignment, introduce James Bond to Agent 004, who happens to be female and is able to get into places "a British businessman" would not blend in. And/or Agent 001 whose family hails from a former British Empire nation (which conveniently is the exotic...

    D&D 5E (2014) Toxicity in the Fandom

Being a jerk while wrapping yourself in one Cause or another, is still being a jerk. No Cause is immune to being used as cover by jerks.

    D&D 5E (2014) Toxicity in the Fandom

Jean Valjean, in Les Miserables, is in a similar situation: he wants to repent from his wrongdoing. The problem is the unyielding Law that brands him forever a thief. The greater part of the musical is one possible path to redemption.

D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk: Player Options for a Campaign Setting

If WotC can come out with a Greyhawk product that is well-received with no input from nuTSR that would in effect pull the world out of their hands (and the various other Gygaxes' hands) despite their respective opinions about owning the legacy.

D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk: Player Options for a Campaign Setting

True. I earlier described as adventure goals 'take out Iuz's lieutenant' or 'grab his new toy and stash it someplace he can't retrieve it' or 'mess up his latest plans'. Figuring that 'fight Iuz in person to the death' would be more than the PCs would be able to handle (and would be too close...

    Traveller salvage question

Do the PCs need the whole ship? Could they just power up the computer and tak recordings as the ship tries to re-establish the life support and basic 'ready' status? 3-D videocam some high-technology item? Find and grab the 'black box'? Pull out a plasma barbette (or whatever) to duplicate...
