    New WHFRP3e prospective GM, help!

The organization of the rulebooks IS unforgivably bad, but on the bright side they have made things a little easier with the living index, a PDF index which lists references in all the books and is [theoretically] updated as new products are released. Under resources here: Fantasy Flight Games...

    New WHFRP3e prospective GM, help!

It's comments like this which make me curse the ENWorld rule against politics. Sigh... Have a perfect zinger. Back on topic, the best advice I've ever heard for WHFRP is this: the players think they're playing D&D, but they're actually playing Call of Cthulhu.

    Citadels (FFG)

I think FFG's just found a new tagline! Citadels: Like Jell-o without the jiggle

    Runewars

What do you think of it? Have you played it? I've been thinking of getting it, but the price is a bit off-putting, since I question how much I'd play it... I think the playing time on the box is 3 hours, right? Another thing putting me off about it is the hero stuff... I'm very averse to that...

    Citadels (FFG)

I've got to say, I don't really care for the expansion. Never tried it, don't like the idea of picking and choosing which buildings to use. Yeah, I'm lazy. But Citadels is a fantastic game for a large group. Only real gripe is that they don't give you enough gold coins to go around...

    Carcassone And Munchkin

I have to strongly disagree with you here. Carcasonne can be an excellent 2-player game, although it plays very differently from normal. As a 2-player game, it's much more competitive and analytical, and screwing your opponent out of points is as good as scoring them yourself.

    Goodman Games Dungeon Alphabet

Well, if nothing else, it's nice to hear a dissenting voice. Everything else I've seen has been absolutely glowing about it. I was on the fence, and decided I would get it after reading that it had a lot of tables in it. However, I also have the ultimate toolbox (though I don't use it often)...

Managing Equipment Creep in Fantasy RP?

One, wealth is not equivalent to combat prowess. Make it difficult for the PCs to turn wealth into combat prowess. They can have all the money in the world, but that's not going to help if they can't find someone to sell them +x swords and healing potions. Two, don't let the players find things...

    Water Puzzle

Another idea... There are three fountains, with red, yellow and blue liquids in each. The red and yellow liquids, when combined, form lava (orange). The yellow and blue when combined form acid (green). The red and blue form a cold, viscous purple concoction which puts out fires, cools down the...

    Water Puzzle

What if it weren't water? It could be acid, lava, sewage, oil (with flames or sparks in strategic places), blood with some sort of evil enchantment...

    Award or penalize

I think a rephrasing of your post might prove illuminating. "So my players did this totally awesome thing that could have gone really bad but they held it together and it was totally awesome. Should I reward or punish them?" I think the answer's clear.

Banes: Anti-powers used by the DM

Just a quick inkling of an idea I had. Basically, there are "bad" powers, called Banes, which characters might have. They'd typically be daily powers, but rather than the character the DM would choose when to use them. Just a couple quick examples off the top of my head: Forgetful - Bane -...

How would you like a "Gamers Seeking Gamers" system to work?

I had the same concern and was about to post something about, but then reread it and realized my (presumed) mistake.

    Status of D&D Game Table?

Could be wrong, but I was under the impression that both the current version* of Magic Online and the various D&D Insider tools were all done in-house. *IIRC the original version was made by a company called Leaping Lizard, but WotC brought development back in-house at some point and the...

How would you like a "Gamers Seeking Gamers" system to work?

Well, WoW recently rolled out their new Looking For Dungeon tool and it's completely revitalized the game for me. I think it should be a model for a gamers-seeking-gamers thing here. Ideally, it should... ...let people specify their preferred roles (e.g. DM, player, rules lawyer, drama queen)...

Some interesting insight from Mark Rosewater (Magic's Head Designer)

I don't have much to say about your other points. I either agree with them or don't specifically disagree. But I do disagree with this one. Every step of the way, there have been people who were vocally against all the changes in Magic just like there have been such people for D&D. Changing the...
